Taken from the rules
Interfering with Catcher 2. Any off side player who remains within ten metres of an opponent who is set to catch a kick up field by an opposing player shall be deemed to be interfering with or attempting to interfere with the catcher and shall be penalised unless the non-offending team gains an immediate advantage.
Not seen the game, but above may clarify.

| We have to be smarter and take our chances better. I thought overall we were as good, if not better than them.
We let them off the hook - again- they were there for the taking.
Also, we all know Saints are a good team and they don't need help -but they always seem to get the rub of the green and it's beginning to annoy me. Nothing wrong with Riley's try in my opinion -no more forward than some they did that were not pulled up.

| Didn't seem like we had the rub of the green tonight, but will be interesting to watch it back on Sky from a different perspective. Our try that was disallowed for a forward pass....was it even forward? Nice to see Wilkin is still a bell.

Line ball for the Riley no-try
The big disappointment was the forward pass rulings from the ptb... Several times I squealed "forward" at Roby's distribution... The ones that McShane was called back for we're no better and no worse.
I can't believe the number of time we put ourselves in a potential match winning position only to blow it!
20/20 hindsight
Last bits utterly wrong imo - mcshane was tormenting saints, it baffles me hoe either of the 2 you mention would have got close to that,

Dwarfs, Gnomes, Halflings/GNOME2.JPG The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.

| Gutsy win by Saints having lost Lomax, Percival and Thompson early on and missing our half backs in Walsh and Burns. Also Roby and Flanagan carrying shoulder injuries couldn,t be subbed because no one left on the bench.
We dont usually win games with Hicks, good response from the wildcats after last weeks showing.

Of course they deserved to lose. Saints were absolutely shocking first half and given the injuries, lack of halves and the mistakes Saints were making, it was a very poor effort from Wakefield. The Turner try was the correct decision, it was shocking the hear the 'experts' ramble on about offside when it was clearly irrelevant. Smith just needs to get a touch on the ball to nullify the try and send it back for the penalty. The try disallowed for a forward pass was also clearly the correct decision.
I don't see which 50:50 calls you are referring to. Wakefield were dumb all night with the blatant ball steals as well. Wakefield did get the odd call too. Makinson's tackle in the last 10 which dislodged the ball struck the arm and not the ball but Wakefield got the scrum. They had ball in the 10 then and again before full time. About four chances in all to win the game and non taken. Not the referee's fault Collis doesn't take that pass or that Reece Lynn is as fast as my Gran.

It was, let’s be fair St’s had some big players sat in the stand, along with the numerous injuries during the game.
It was a good leveller & made for the most exciting game shown on T.V this year, still not sure about the offside decision though, it was the game changer.

Take my comment in context... Several tackles that Miller made would have not been made by Sammut... So Saints may have been out of sight... I just really like Godinet and don't understand his exclusion and when the game was loose and the big Saints pack were exhausted, you could see a fast quick brained player finishing off a half break, I thought we missed Godinets link play in the game. Also McShane was responsible for at least two of the late game brainfarts... However I do not advocate a vilification of the player, as he played very well otherwise.
Oh and don't call me hoe again!

| That game was 50-50 and revolved round 2 decisions. Both teams made errors in roughly equal measure. For 50 mins Wakefield were slightly in the upper hand for me, and believe me I criticise my own team. If you want to get your slide rule out, the disallowed Wakefield try wasforward. I know as you ALL know , you will see 100 tries more forward before the season is out. What is more, it will be St Helens, Wigan and Leeds scoring them. It seems, if you are the ascendant team playing the game at pace, it doesn't matter where you lob the ball, try wil be awarded. If you are the lowly underdog, your unexpected incursion against the brilliant superior will be viewed with a microscope. It was laughable. But frankly the offside try was worse. 2 players, one who scored, one involved, both offside at the kick. Well, we'll see if it evens up over the season. I doubt it. SL bias rules again and we can expect to be battered into the middle 8

I thought McShane was poor last night. Can't fault his effort but he lacked something.

| Dumb Rugby and Great St Helens defence were the 2 reasons we lost IMO.
Very frustrating as we should be 3 wins from 4 now. Instead we are slipping down the table.

Brilliant post sums it up for me, it also sums up what is wrong with our game.
