In a word YES, up until this year a concession was classed from 60 upwards now it's 65 unfortunately.

| Quote: ball-in-hand "I am in the same position as many others having been hit by a double whammy.Last year I got a concession ticket as I was 60 and a student one for my son who was still at Uni then. now I find myself having to pay full price for 4 more years and and full price for my son who cannot afford one was he can't find a job. I have bought one on the easy payment scheme for him which was all I could afford at the time but I now need to find 250 for mine or just pay on the day. The club sold tickets too cheaply in the Double Glazing Era but they are now alienating the student and 60 to 65 market with are a significant proportion of the support.'"
I posted this sentiment exactly when the new prices came out. I bought a concession season ticket even though I knew I'd probably only attend half the home games - my way of putting a bit of cash in to the club. The new price for 60 to 64 is too much of a hike and I didn't buy a ST this year. I'll still go to the games I can get to and the club nay well get as much money off me as in previous seasons, possibly more, but I don't think it was good PR. I think the loss of student discount is especially harsh and, probably, even more counter productive.

| Why did (in our case)or do (in Cas's case) concession start at 60? Surely most people at that age are still working?

| Think it was down to equality mate, women could retire at 60. It was the same with bus passes, men and women got them at 60 even though men had to work until 65.

| I can't see any logic for a concession ticket kicking in at 60 - never could; so I'm at peace with that decision, notwithstanding the impact on individuals who've got used to the cheap ST. That has to be a personal decision for them and if it means the club loses a few sales, one has to imagine that's been factored in by the club when they raised the age threshold.
The student ticket does seem an odd decision - I would've thought there'd be some logic to inflating the price incrementally as a supporters financial situation changes; but again, MC is an accountant, and I guess he's making decisions about the future based on what has happened in the past - as they do.

I think the decision to completely drop the student concession is completely bizarre. Am I right in thinking that we are the only team in the whole of professional and Semi professional RL not to have student concession?
Fair enough, increase pricing but don't put them up to full price. I think this was the wrong decision and this is where the club has dropped on sales, does this still result in increased revenue? I don't know, I don't have the facts and figures but 5 out of the 6 students I know have not renewed for this season.
By the way just to clarify I am not a bitter student !!

| MC obviously has a reason to remove the student season ticket(be nice to know why). But I can't see how it benefits the club, pushing away and alienating the current 16-22 crop of fans (and the future of our great club)some of who may never be back. It's shame the supporters trust weren't consulted on this or the 60-65 season ticket price hike. But who are the we to question what's happening at our club?

I'd suggest they are all valid questions.

| Some sporting clubs even give discount to forces personel.
I'd be ok with that. Clearly we haven't got bases near us so it wouldn't impact us like some areas but it's good PR

| What about forces veterans? I'd go for that as long as 22 years service is classed as veteran lol

Thing is its all about getting people in the ground. If this brings in 100 people over a season, initiatives like this are worth it(using free platform to advertise with club official social media accounts). I would even go as far as giving all the services (fire,Nhs and police) discount even if it a just a few quid for selected games. But it's no good trying to get new fans in the ground when you can't even keep your old ones by removing student season tickets for no apparent reason. You have to get people hooked and you can't do that without them being inside the ground.
While I'm thankful for the club's stability, there is no active selling, no gimmicks and no intent to sell the club's image to potential customers. They have Facebook and Twitter, but when was the last time they put anything exciting or innovative on either?

Wakefield College has over 10,000 students just getting 5% of these through the turnstiles for 5 games per season at £12 per ticket would equate to 500 x £60 = £30,000 additional revenue per season if my maths is right.... Short sighted in my opinion as it also doesn't take into account sixth form colleges in the area. These are also fans for the future support of the club.

That doesn't include merchandise and refreshments either. Big chunk of money. Potentially massive if you gain some life long fans out them.

| OK as at this moment in time the club will recieve no income from me this year for reasons given earlier. At this late stage in the closed season i will make a proposal to the club based on what i can afford. I will pay £100 for my concession season ticket and £100 pound for my grandsons (studant) season ticket.
