Ha ha, I wouldn't mind betting that Newcold will have their name on it in letters ten feet high in the hope that people will keep noticing it.

| These images make me sick. If there's no stadium built there they can stick Newmarket Lane where the sun don't shine.

| Noticed it for the first time last week, looks a real eyesore. Still don't know how that can be completely seperate to the main development.

It was submitted as a new application on a site now removed from GB as a result of the LDF. The council maintain that they could not apply the conditions of the original application to this site, but someone conveniently allowed us all to believe that this was contributing around 60% of the B8 space towards the target to trigger the stadium. The principal now is whether ALL future B8 applications will be separate and if any will contribute. This is what we are working on - one strand of it.
Politically - how can the council justify that thing with nothing in return for our City??? Its not what we signed up for!

| Thats horrible.
I too feel sorry for the locals.
I dont understand why after all the confident statements about the development being linked to the ground then this happens.

| The Newcold development does have some positives that we must mention if, as we still hope, we can build a brand new stadium at Newmarket. The new signal controlled junction and road into the site is about to start (signs have gone up saying the junction work will start in October for 26 weeks) and that was always something that had to be done to open up the site. While the next 26 weeks are going to be a general pain for all locals in the area, including me, we will have a new safe junction (this is an accident black-spot and it needed sorting irrespective) and the immediate residents will not have any additional traffic coming past their properties.

Yes it says on their own site that it is a 'fully automated cold storage warehouse'.

| Even the construction will be mainly foreign workers , most likely German or Italian contracts.

What the hell were the WMDC planning department doing allowing this to go through on a separate planning application in the full knowledge that it was originally intended as part of the wider Community development. Are they so thick and incompetent that they didn't twig what the developer was doing or were they complicit in this right from the off!
After hundreds of thousands of pounds were spent on a Public Inquiry and thousands of people campaigned for or against this development did the WMDC Planning Dept just wave this through without raising the question or seeking advice. Don't give me that they had no choice because the new application was within the rules. We all know that the site and planning permission for it would never have become available without having ridden on the back of the Community Sports element. Certainly the Secretary of State wouldn't have made his decisions without the Sports facilities.
Someone asked why we thought WMDC and Peter Box were at least partly at fault, well look no further than this 'waving through' of the new Newcold application almost in secret and without so much as a muff about how it was circumventing the S106 contract.

| You have to ask why the Daily Mail and UKIP aren't all over this. Local community shafted, nasty developer bulldozes trees and fields whilst providing jobs for foreigners.

Not having a dig but why don't you tell them, perhaps they are utterly unaware - also aware of the irony in your post - but maybe a prompt?
