Maybe the club should have resisted getting into bed with them in the first instance although I do understand there wasn't many other options available at the time.

The club / Trust were led to them by WMDC. WMDC are the parties named in the 106. There was nothing wrong with the deal, but everything wrong with the detail.
WMDC have plenty more attachment to YC, they are in it up to their wotsits!

That's not helpful Tigerade. We can all be clever after the fact.

Given what we have learned, I would be very careful about getting too carried away with the current Tigers Stadium plans. There are big costs involved in the roadworks, bank formation and landscaping, as well as the stadium - that's a lot of money from not that big a development pot!

No need to appologise, I wasn't having a go at you or anyone else but you have to accept that you can't expect us to picket the Town Hall, write statements on the Councils planning portal, sign petitions and sit through Public Inquiries but then be quiet and not have an opinion.
When YCP have finally walked off having not paid a penny nor built a sports facility we can all console ourselves that we were moraly in the right, while in the business world morals mean nothing when money's involved and Colin Mackie won't lose a wink of sleep over whether he was moraly wrong.
I'll support you and the Trust and the club all the way through to the end but don't expect me not to have a voice.

I don't and I apologise anyway - but I don't use terms like oiks and plebs!
It is frustrating not to be able to tell more, and a voice is good, just don't assume that we don't have these things covered! The moral stuff is aimed at the council - they will be bothered by public opinion / press etc, but the moment is not right - just yet.
As I have quoted elsewhere, one of our group said he would 'die in a ditch' before giving up on this and we are all of one mind on this!

Problem is it still has a lot more chance of coming to fruition than Newmarket ever will though though no matter how much shouting is done. The only thing that might come out of it is that life might get a little more difficult for that weasel Mackie, which would be much deserved. But there will be no new stadium and no funds for a redevelopment of BV either. Thanks to the council being pretty much useless there is NO legal requirement and NO desire to 'do the right thing' meaning we are very short of legs to stand on. And there certainly isn't any money for it. You could try lobbying the council but Boxy and Jeffrey will make sure the Cas scheme goes through with a watertight 106 thus ensuring another term in office is gained through their votes so quite honestly won't give two hoots. Pickles might be the only hope but he is worse than useless to be honest and most in local government know it. We have been done over good and proper.
Just out of interest when is the lease up on Belle Vue? And has the covenant alteration decision been made yet?

Then, as frustrated as I'm sure you are, you need to be carefull not to sound condescending when answering a genuine post from someone with at least as many years as you supporting this club.

| Quote: jack in the box "Avenger.
Everything you say about Yorkcourt is totally justified. They have no morals whatsoever and their only priority in life is to line their own pockets. However they are not unique, quite sadly as far as the business world of development is concerned they are the norm.
However my real gripe is with WMDC. They are a democratically elected body who pay their top officers huge salaries in order to protect the interests of the general public in projects like Newmarket. WMDC brokered the NM project right from the outset, it was they who identified Yorkcourt and introduced them to the club. WMDC have been in this right from the outset and should have been competent enough to prevent this from happening. WMDC have failed in their duty to protect the public they represent.
OK we have lost a stadium for Wakefield so they may be thinking ,so what it doesn't effect that many people. However this NM project could just have easily have been a school or medical facility or some other community asset. Whichever way you look at things the public of Wakefield have been cheated out of a large sum of 106 money and the blame lies on the shoulders of WMDC in my opinion.'"
Spot on in what you say. Although the problem is i suppose that if it was a school or a medical facility then pretty much eveyone in the district would disagree with the process would be onside in ganging up against the council. With it being a stadium for a private rugby club, which even though it is a 'community' facility that what is has always been seen as to all and sundry, then the wider level of support needed to make a difference isn't likely to be there. I imagine couple or three thousand irate Wakey fans with a few banners won't bother them in the slightest which leaves us high and dry.

Mainly due to Yorkcourt being infinately more clever than the council at a guess.
