If pomposity had any real value you'd be a millionaire - would you talk down to Dave like that if you were face to face as a matter of interest.
Yes it is a bit of a lame story but the underlying issue isn't.

Just shows you that not much happens at Huddersfield to warrant newspaper space.

| As someone who doesn't take drink into the ground, what do other clubs do and are we any different (I know that the stewarding lacks consistency) but, do other grounds allow drink to be taken in.
A few of us went to a outdoor "gig" recently and you couldn't take drinks (of any sort) in there.

You can't take drinks into the Ethiad as far as I recall.
Maybe the real issue is do we want BV to be like that?

It's in the public domain, so I assume he is prepared to own his outrage; so yes, I'd question his motivation for approaching the paper.
I hate these local rag non-stories; it's plainly an attempt by a Huddersfield fan to stick the boot in and because these crappy little papers are on the wane, they'll print anything.

| RealSteel - you made the point of the stewards that Friday were to busy working the pubs and clubs and for me there in lies the problem they think they are still working the pubs and clubs when stewarding at BV and a different attitude and approach is required. As for the terrorist threat if you wanted to drink any of the stuff that you can make a bomb from then good luck to you as you would certainly not be going much further than the turnstile. The Ethiad the only thing you can take in is bottled water be it full or half full.

You could find it was just in their online addition maybe, here in Halifax the local rag also puts trivia on website that's not in paper

I agree with that, that some door people in clubs have a poor attitude , I once saw a couple trying to goad a young drunk lad into fighting, imagine having the same mentality on match day

| Quote: lampyboy "What the club need to do is scrap this stupid rule. I agree 100% with no alcohol and glass bottles and that should be it.'"
This is the policy according to the club's website;
"There are a number of food and drink concessions around the Stadium but supporters are also permitted to enter the Stadium with their own food and drink. However, under the terms of the Stadium’s license, alcohol is not permitted to be brought into the Stadium. Furthermore, glass bottles/containers and tin/metal cans are not permitted under any circumstances."
There's a bit more about searching bags etc but, basically, there should be absolutely no problem if somebody is going in to the ground with sandwiches, crisps, fish and chips or any other foodstuff and plastic bottles, opened or not, of pop/water.
It seems to me that the stewards are the ones who don't know the rules and, in "Dave's" case and Big Al's the club, through the stewards, has cocked up.

| The stewards are in the front line and should act as ambassadors of the club. Clearly a problem with the attitude of some of the stewards. Door supervisors are trained to deal with conflict, it seems many start the conflict in the first place.
No one expects to arrive at a ground and be confronted by a jobs worth , who for what ever reason can not or will not let common sense prevail . It reflects on the club, and the club need to sort it out.
Its not a matter of taking sides , it just need a simple rule that can be understood by the visitors to B V and more importantly the security.

| I had a ruck sac with me against Hudds with a big camera in it. I did wonder what they were going to say.
1 guy was covering 4 gates so was a bit stressed but was quite happy to let me in.

Big Al had an issue?
I'm surprised that nobody mentioned this already.

| As I said, think it's the club that's got the issue. Needs sorting.

| Obviously there was a problem when they first brought this in, but is there a problem now?
Surely no Wakefield fans take opened bottles of water any more (or at least answer the question: Is it open, with a "No sir"icon_wink.gif
And on top of that, if you have a bottle already opened, I'd just drink it. No one is going to have two opened bottles surely.
I understand why things got out of hand originally, especially once inside the ground, but is there still a problem?
