| Excellent points made Khlav, particularly the one about increasing the number of clubs rather than retracting.
Have never been able to see the point of reducing the numbers.
Any neutral observer would view that as a sport struggling and one that is not worth showing interest in.
Clubs need to think not just of themselves, but be prepared to play the longer game and of the sport as a whole.

No we don't! Top 8 would be great, but most Salford fans deep down will be happy staying up. Maybe not Koukash? Me myself having watched Salford yoyo in the past would be happy with 12th to 8th. Let's not forget we were the worst last season, any improvement would be good. Playoffs would be great! We're all not over excited trolls!

Today they have no team and have a game in 4 weeks!! Who is going to invest in a club that is guaranteed to go down!
Can I put one of these in too
The same Barnet owner who invested in a club that doesn't have a team with four weeks to go till the season starts.

It's not jealousy, just annoyance generated by the odd few of your supporters who seem to have very quickly forgotten where you've come from.
My opinion is that you've signed a lot of players who might or might not work.
Personally I don't think Chase and Smith make a good pairing but they may prove me wrong.
Hock is just as likely to cause issues as he is to win you games going on past experience.
Morley, Puletua, Meli are all another year older and could survive another full season or could not - nobody knows just yet.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love someone with money to come into our club, but it's one of those where you need to guarantee they are in it for the long term otherwise you very quickly put yourselves in a completely unsustainable position.

| I just wonder how the good dr would react if his team does badly this year, I hope for the Salford fans sake that he doesn't do what the last Bradford boss did and "throw them under the bus" so to speak

I fear you're right, everything about the Dr screams fragile ego to me. He's a wealthy man in RL terms but he isn't so rich as his bank account or boredom threshold won't snap before Mr Noble has the time to build a team. His antics last year suggested a very impatient attitude. When you compare his high profile which he has helped create to that of the owners of Warrington who are the club most similar to to Salford when they moved there is a marked difference in attitude. Warrington and indeed Wigan, Leeds and Saints have owners who remain relatively behind the scenes and shun the limelight - they are builders and planners where as the Dr just seems like a flash harry enjoying his notoriety of which he will eventually get bored. I real really hope not and I mean that but having seen many of these club saviours come and go both at Trinity and other clubs I won't hold my breath.
None of us on here not even a cynic like myself thought Glover would be quite as useless as he was - he wasn't as rich as the Dr but he did put on a similar show - Salford fans by all means should back him and support the club and enjoy what seems to be on offer, but as a word of advise from one who know - watch your back and always read the small print

Really?
What difference does that make, these people never really gamble with there own cash. AG, OK or the Dr, they risk losing some cash but nowhere near as much as they like to make out.

I don't know your own definition of wealthy but, the article below suggests a personal worth of £900 million
Which marks him down as staggeringly rich:
Marwan Koukash
Cup hope: Mount Athos
Wealth: $900 million
No one could begrudge Koukash raising the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday with last year's fifth placegetter Mount Athos.
Koukash fled Palestine with his family when he was nine and spent three years in a refugee camp in Jordan before moving to England.
He gained an engineering degree in Liverpool, became a professor and started a corporate training and property business that has earned him his fortune, which The Times rich list last year valued at $900 million.
Six years ago he had never set foot on a racetrack. Today he owns more than 100 horses and one in particular, Mount Athos, could give the Melbourne Cup its first refugee winner.
Koukash's love of sport has expanded. This year he bought the Salford City Reds rugby league club and he is looking to purchase an English football club, revealing recently he was in talks with Oldham Athletic.
This was taken from an article about horse racings most wealthy owners and he was 5th or 6th on the list
Of course he could pull the plug if things don't pan out in the way that he wants but, this guy is in a different league to A.G. or Ok,

I never said he wasn't rich, certainly not in RL terms - but wealth comes in many forms and is calculated in many ways. For me the one that matters is cash, actual instant cash not assets. Now I don't know which he has but I can't see him risking much of it.
Problem for me with the likes of the Dr is what drives them. When you look at Ken Davey you just know it's his passion and you know whilst ever he breath he will support that club. I don't get that with this bloke, I know being a life long fan of the game or a certain team is not essential to running a club well, but I do think it makes a huge difference as to how far you will actually go - it's just a hunch but I don't get him same as I didn't get AG.
We shall see but I'd beware, this isn't the Premiership where you get your money back in prestige and the ability to sell the club on or just a player like Abramovich(?) can - it's pretty thankless by comparison.

No one can say/predict how long Koukash will be incharge of us? Anyone could say the same about any club owner, nobody knows! The doc certainly didn't take us on to make money! He does like the attention and popularity and the bigger Salford get the more attention he will get. The doc is a sports fan, horse racing, rugby, football. In the horse racing side he is the biggest british based owner, in football he'll never reach the top! But in rugby league he could.
His plans are not to only build a good first team squad but to make Salford self sufficient! He is currently in talks with the council to help make this happen. If the doc was as impatient as everybody reckons he could have walked after last years season?! It's the docs aim for us to improve year on year, and with each year I think he'll fall more in love with rugby league and Salford.
I know a lot if opposition fans keep coming out with "I hope Koukash stays doesn't get board and walks" But I get the feeling most opposition fans are hoping this will happen. A lot of people tell Koukash on twitter "you'll walk away soon" and "your not wanted in RL" I think this will only make the doc want to prove people wrong. Apparently the racing community reacted the same way and said the same things to the doc when he started out only 5 years ago, he proved them wrong and he states he'll prove the rugby doubters wrong. Only time will tell and I can tell you one thing, every Salford fans will enjoy the ride!

I see Salford and Bradford as relegation contenders along with ourselves and a few others.
So by the third game of the season should we have lost both games panic will already have set in - BY GAME THREE!!!
How can this be conducive to good rugby and a healthy game and club. It's utter madness and takes all the joy out of the season right at the start, I think people are forgetting just how awful a relegation threatened season can be.
People go on about dead rubber games in the present set up but they are nearly all dead rubbers if you get off to a bad start in a P&R season other than the last game when the great Wakefield public turns out in numbers in the hope of seeing a car crash.
This is P&R in all it's glory.
Don't think your views would be the same if your club was in the championship and and all the joy has gone from the first game as there's no where to go there all dead rubber games
It not good for the game to see clubs getting millions from Sky and blowing it on over the hill players and not investing it in there club to improve things for there fans but it happens I'm not against what's best for rugby league but let everyone have a equal chance and when clubs don't deliver don't leave them in the top flight while other clubs work hard to get there and are stopped
