| It would be unfair to criticise the majority of last years 19s because they really didn’t have the opportunity to shine , this in my opinion was down to the simple fact that the pivots were nowhere near up to the job , such as James Healy for example was not given one decent pass all season , Sam Doherty never had room to show his skills , both have now disappeared has they are too old . the worrying thing is the club as chosen to stick with the same three so the next crop are likely to suffer from the same problem .

Hes got a good eye for the odd one here and there has Ollie. Wonder how many times his finds have saved the club from more strife??
It must be easy at Leeds where they basically have there pick and can offer decent deals to the best of them. The ones we normally get are the best of the rest and are coming for peanuts.
The likes of Ellis, Westwood, Murphy, Ferguson, Pitts etc have all come through via Ollie and if you want to go further the likes of Flynn and Nigel Wright.

I saw James Healy against Leeds last Boxing Day and although he wasn't on the pitch long (possibly fitness related) he seemed to have some size and strength and go ok. It's a real shame if after 3 years we have lost prospects like this....
In 2012 article stated......The 2012 Wildcats U18 Players and Coaches Player of the Year Ben Shulver along with Man of Steel James Healey are two of the players that have signed professional deals for the first time, as does Reece Trout, brother of first team member, Kyle.
Wildcats CEO James Elston thanked the members of Club 1873 for their support in what is a crucial part of the sustained success of the club.
“It’s fantastic that we’ve been able to offer twelve players their first professional contracts with us for 2013 and we have the members of Club 1873 to thank for that,” said Elston.

I imagine you to be like a Jack Hargreaves character from 'out of town' in th 70s sat in a shed with a flat cap, a pipe and a whippet... Whistfully gazing into your past, an chipping in with pearls of wisdom....
In a completely uninteligable language.

| I don't get your point.
You say you can't tell whether the players are good enough because you haven't seen them play against players you feel are the best (though I assume you haven't seen them play yet either) - yet you tell us on another thread you are a great judge if not the best and you should judge them by watching them.
Why do you need to watch them against Wigan to tell if they are good players? As a team that will tell you if they are a better team than Wigan but shouldn't stop someone with your undoubted talent spotting a good player.
The same applies the other way. Sometimes a great team has no individuals that can progress on their own, especially when moving fromyouth to the big leagues.

I believe the difference between the 2 is that the 'talent' in the 18's was all across the park and not focussed in individual players. The best, in most opinions at the time, were Annakin, Trout, Walshaw and Southernwood. Southernwood left and has not made the grade, the other 3 are still here and trying to stamp their mark. Most of that squad were not coveted by our rivals at the time.
The 16's are not fantastic across the park, but we do have a small number of very talented players who are coveted by our rivals. There is an honest belief that we are working towards producing 2/3 players from this group, just as our rivals aim to achieve with their young uns.
