Wouldn't matter if it was a Wildcat or a coat of arms, if you are winning people will support the club.
A change of name doesn't mean a change in fortunes.
Hull changed their name, then moved into a brand spanking new stadium. This helps too!
The club probably use the Wildcat as a marketing tool for the younger end.
They may not go to the match but they might be more inclined to buy something from the shop with a cat on it than a badge.'"
I don't get this we need the wildcats as a marketing tool, if anything it makes us harder to market. A few kids might like a cartoon cat but once they're over ten they don't want to be walking around wearing a cartoon cat on their shirt a traditional badge would be preferred by young and old. Take HKR for example a similar sized club to ourselves who've kept their name and badge as it always has been, it hasn't put off their young support and they probably sell a lot more merchandise than us to their fans young and old because it's a brand they are proud of young and old.
It's just something to think about a new start, building trust with fans & businesses again, a change to a badge that represents the City and dropping the wildcats tag on might be just what we need ( keep daddycool though). It will be too late for next season but them badges that were doing the rounds on twitter were brilliant font know if anyone can put them on here.

Probably not, i doubt anyone would care and i wouldn't.
I can see both side of this but i'm Trinity all the way if i have the choice.

| Wakefield Trinity RLFC worked for me as a kid. I´d like to see us returning to it but agree there are other concerns at the moment!

Having a cartoon rhino hasn't hurt Leeds, but then again, they've won a fair bit over the last few years too. A cartoon wolf hasn't hurt Warrington either.
For me, it can only be Trinity. For my kids, its Wildcats. If we ever win owt again, it'll be the same players we're cheering on, and the same club we support.
It's a bit like "Loiners", "Wire", or "Fartown".
You don't hear anyone shouting "Come on dreadnoughts" these days, unless in jest.

In an ideal world i'd agree with trinity only as it was that which i grew up with but i have no problem with the wildcats add on and it has to be considered that any young fans who have started supporting in the last 15 years have grown up with the wildcats moniker and to even risk changing the identity and losing some connection now just isn't worth it. As has been said there are bigger fish to fry right now.
As an aside, going by manys feeling on here, maybe doing a range of heritage trinity merchandise alongside the new gear would be a good money generating idea.

| You can keep the mascot and even adopt Wildcats as a nickname, but heritage is very marketable. Wakefield Trinity RLFC for me all the way.

| Trinity every day and all the way for me. But couldn't we still have Wildcats as our nickname for marketing purposes eg. Some merchandise with the wildcats logo on and some with Trinity on? Arsenal are the Gunners but they're not Arsenal Gunners. We should be Wakefield Trinity not Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

| Just a couple of points on this subject which I find very interesting. I think a move back to Wakefiled Trinity RLFC would be a good choice. WTW seems a bit too long-winded for me and SKY always refer to the club as simply Wakefield Wildcats (cringe) which would be a terrible choice IMO.
Someone mentioned Hull KR's style of marketing the logo and mascot. A simple logo (with no animal attachment) but a mascot (a Robin) for the kids to look up to. A similar marketing style can be said for Saints (St Bernard) and now successfully Wigan (a Warrior).
Some clubs have had great success from using the monicker (Rhinos, Bull, Wolves and even my club - Tigers) but its not for everyones taste and doesn't always fit in with the traditionist supporters views.
Some clubs have made poor choices when trying to sex-up their brand and have been riduculed for it - Halifax Blue Sox and Hull Sharks were disasterous concepts and didn't last long.
Some clubs have had a monicker since their birth - Sheffield Eagles, Catalan Dragons, Gatehead Thunder and Wakefield Trinity and it wouldn't be the same without these iconic brands.
The fleur-de-ley design and Trinity monicker is a great and famous badge that should be reintroduced IMO. Its only minute detail when you look at the big picture and with all the other stuff going on ATM but I'm certain it would be a great seller of merchandise - something that the club is crying out for.

This is the solution.
As an aside, as soon as Glover described himself along the lines of a "long time Wildcats fan" his credibility was shot.

The plus for Leeds and Warrington is that they didn't have second names (ie, Trinity). Halifax picked a bad name and Hull had "FC". Bulls worked because they used it so well as an early marketing tool following on from Cougarmania (it also suited their style of play, which was big lumbering things going backwards and forwards on a muddy field). Tigers is peffect for Cas, of course, because it matches their existing strip.
The thing with the Wildcats thing is that a significant portion don't like it. Of those that do like it, do any dislike "Trinity"? For the Wildcats brand, it feels like the camp is split between dislikes and don't minds, which is hardly a ringing endorsement.

Kids probably love it, and may consider Trinity to be a boring name without a grasp of the history, however once they get over the age of 10 then this may change. Wildcats becomes a childish/babyish add on just when they want to come across as more grown up.
It is good to see the Guardian drop Wildcats from their articles regarding Wakefield. I wish more would do the same, including the official website address and socoal media. I wonder how many kids don't even realise Trinity is part of the clubs name.
