Whilst we have clearly to make adjustments, we cannot start in Feb with 16 players, so some have to be found and signed. We cannot forget what we are here for and we must do this in unison with the efforts to adjust expenditure in all areas.

In essence, I believe that we are on the look-out for players and especially ones who will bring good value for money to the club.

I used to think Steve Ferres was a good bloke and new his stuff untill he came to us and his answer was to take the club into admin clear the debts sell our better players then start with a clean slate, fortuatly Cas would not go his way so he took his bat and ball home an we seam to have turned the corner. As for you signing more players 100% yes you must do this to have a squad but surley with your plight as it is you will have to off load some of your bigger earners to bring in more on less, I am pretty sure the Kirmond to Salford will come up again now he has missed his chance with Warrington which I am pretty sure he is gutted about. That is unless the STs start to shift.

No daddy cool has said at present he is a Wakey player and that will remain the case until we receive an offer we can't turn down (I.e a stoopidly massive offer, or one that pays the wages if we are in a hole come payday) or DK days he wants to leave, or words to that effect.

I think we're about 2/3rds of the salary cap as things stand, and could be less by the time the season starts. It's backs to the wall time, and we'll need to keep a core of experienced players and hope we can find some young'uns and good'uns who have both the desire and what it takes to make their mark. In a strange way, I'm looking forward to it.

The vultures will be circling near pay day time then to save themselves a few grand. Kirmond is an international standard second row on a long contract so should get in excess of £100k if not closer to £150k but our financial position will probably be exploited. Fingers crossed he stays as we are supposed to be building a team around him and a sponsor is found.
