| I doubt more than 2000 will be sold. Plus point we might get a few more walk up paying full price (if the apparent freebies are cut back on) meaning a greater income overall, although it doesnt ameliorate the situation right now.

| Quote: JINJER "If that's the case I'd suggest we get used to a playing roster that doesn't include DK or Collis! And some fans berated me for saying Wakey fans were pessimistic!'"
I think if you were all honest about this you would have to say that if you sell more than 2500 STs for next season you will have done extremley well, this is not an attempt at a wind up either. There is not one of you on this forum that would have needed any other encouragment than your meeting the other week to get behind the club because thats what real fans do, but unfortunatly the floating support who bought into the cheap STs will be much more difficult to tempt.
I know I dont need to tell you this but a £100 season ticket to watch what on paper looks a half decent team should sell its self but on the other hand a £180 ST to watch a team that is still undecided and could well be a shadow of last years team is really going to take some shifting.
I dont profess to have any answers for you but in all honesty I think your only outcome to survive and build again (from info I have read on here) is going to be the sale of more players and so the viciouse circle continues, you need to sell STs to build a team but people dont want to buy a ST without a decent team to watch.

So if it was 1150, then where does that leave your view of the current total. Perhaps I have misunderstood the previous comments or misinterpreted, got dates mixed up etc.'"
Oh crap, ah well, looks like we'll be waving goodbye to some players then. However, i would sooner that happen than go to the wall.

I would sooner see the 4,000 that bought cheap season tickets renewing, but it's looking doubtful!

| With the importance of numbers sold for season tickets, this should be the most visible section of the home page on the website.
Also, there were 500 people oat the meeting, many of whom had already renewed their memberships.
200 sold in a week isn't bad going as long as we build some momentum and yes, there will be some drop off in take up.
On the back of a lower league finish than many expected, plus the doom and gloom surrounding the sale of our better players, there will be a fall in supporter numbers.
We have a classic "catch 22", without "star" players we will sell fewer S/T's and without sales we may have to offload more.
It is up to each and every one of us to "sell" the importance buying into the club to our friends, neighbours etc.
However, although we don't want a load of "bull", the club do need to promote our future in a positive light and although Daddycool was sceptical about the Wakey Express, this is the best way for us to reach the masses and we need to get them on board to help our plight.

So would I, but the apathy of the wakefield public towards a Rugby League club is becoming more and more apparent by the day.

| I am not happy but we have a self fulfilling prophesy in that without something positive people hold off buying season tickets which leads if it happens to the sale of our more highest valued players which leads to less interest and lower sales. I know you are saying for the greater good lets sell and the club survive but what sort of life will it be.
I am also a little concerned that we now appear to be fast becoming a laughing stock with how the club is being run off the field. You can say what you like but Glover sold the club because that was his expertise albeit without great fiscal restraint. We now have the fiscal restraint but not the charisma to sell the club to the supporters and that is the expertise we need.

That fact that it has come so soon after the last one is what has done the damage, That and I think that people just don't have the diehard allegiance to sports clubs like they once did, Now it;s a summer sport there are a hell of a lot more options of things to do for your money on a Friday / Sat /Sun, and maybe it's got to the stage where people are going to pick and choose games, and the rest of the time just go off and do other stuff.

I think thats it in a nut shell and add to that that people may be waiting to see what sort of team will be on the field before they buy and there you have it, it will be too late

Some fans that I come across don't live and breathe WT like the majority on this board, checking more than once a day on here and other associated news media, they seem to go into hibernation with regard to the club in the off season. In conversation with them, other than big news (usually bad news) they don't have a clue and you may as well be talking about the price of cabbages.
On another note, I received an email today from The Lindley Group and I thought 'who are this lot' or words to that effect. On reading the gist of it' the content mentioned Hillsborough, John Smiths stadium and a few more venues for holding Xmas parties. Again, I thought ........, then right at the bottom there was a mention of the 'old girl' and the conference centre. I thought , fair enough we are utilising our assets and an external company are doing a bit of marketing and they have acquired our email addresses.
No problem with that, at least it proves that there is a list with me on it (assuming they got my email details from WT). My problem is (no I'm not giving you a long list ) that with all this kerfuffle both prior to THE meeting and especially afterwards, with sales drives in this that and t'other, I have not received one email from the club.
Perhaps they have lost my address, if so go ask The Lindley Group to send them a copy! (again assuming that WT is the source).
Rant over, nearly, but this is an old chestnut of mine, it's far easier to sell to your existing/previous customers (if they are satisfied!), than it is to try and attract new customers.

| I got the same email from Lindleys, who are the firm that the catering & hospitality was contracted out to for this year (so you would be right in assuming that your details came from the club I would think).
So the club obviously do have a list of email addresses for people. I know Michael Carter said that they had not got many staff available to them right now but an email to everyone on their database pushing renewals wouldn't go amiss.
I'm also aware that some folk will moan that they've already renewed so why can't the club only send to ones who haven't yet renewed but let's be honest, I'd rather receive 3, 4 or 5 emails asking me to renew when I already have done providing it means that everyone else is getting the reminder too (bearing in mind 75% of last years season ticket holders don't appear to have renewed).
If nobody has time to sort the data then just email everyone - just get it done!!

A laughing stock because of how the club is being run off the field? Not spending more then it earns? Actually paying suppliers? Paying wages on time? Think I'll forget to do all that and spin some cr*p! Seems to make some people happier

No keep doing what your doing I am sick of the clubs name being dirt cos of letting suppliers down. We need to restore some faith in the club to the wider public and business community and if we have to take a few steps back to build a more sustainable future then so be it
