By the way, I wasn't born in 1873, just a bit later.
Seriously though, thanks to all who attended last night, it shows the passion there is for this Club that's so much part of all our lives.
I know people are brassed off with the situation, I know I am, but the fact that we are where we are financially demonstrates how difficult it is to run a Club in Super League without massive investment from a wealthy benefactor. It has been said that that Ken Davy invests around £2m of his own money every year to keep Huddersfield afloat. Apparently Jack Fulton puts a substantial sum into Castleford and they are on a par with us performance wise. The same applies to all the top Clubs with the possible exception of Leeds and maybe Wigan. Leeds can pay full cap and remain in the black because they pull in around 15,000 at every home game.
If you do the sums based an our attendances, SKY money, corporate and sponsorship and then look at expenditure on players, running costs etc. in order to pay up to full cap we need to generate a minimum of a further £0.6m per annum. Michael said we would be running with a budget I think of £1.1m which seems to back this figure.
Without a Ken Davy figure we need to generate a substantial increase in income if we wish to be a Super League Club and sit with the big boys at the top table and we are the only people who can do this. If we don't then we have to accept that we are a Championship club, and no disrespect intended, and play with the Batley's and Dewsbury's.
Whilst ever I have a breath in my body I will do all I can to stay in Super League because I enjoy playing against Leeds, Wigan, Saints etc. and beating them now and again.
If you feel the same way then get behind the Club and as I said last night renew your memberships, join Club 1873 and sign up to Foxy Bingo (remember code WTW).
The Trust is still working with the Club on other ways to generate substantial investment into the Club but we will need the support of all of you who care about Wakefield Trinity. If you want to help us and I'm not going to beat about the bush it will involve you putting some more money into the Club then give us your contact details by e-mailing us at wtsupporterstrust@aol.com.
I hate cliches and straplines but together we can really take this Club forward.

| Having read the posts about the meeting last night and this thread it makes me proud to be part of such a club as Wakefield and its passionate supporters.
I wonder how many would be willing to show their support just by opening Belle Vue up and invite people to come.
If we want to demonstrate willingness to succeed and how passionate we are lets show the rugby league world and media what WE are prepared to do and show this in numbers and even if this was done simply by showing appreciation to MC and the team with a resounding round of applause i think this would be appreciated.

| Quote: El Rey "The supporters trust people for putting together last nights meeting, once again giving time and effort for this club.
The RFL for trying to help this club survive and move forward, not the bad guys they are portrayed at times.
Cath Hetherington for offering to help sort this mess out, all this Leeds feeder team stuff is just rubbish.
To Michael and Chris for being honest, i wish you well and will support you.'"
Sounds good.
As ever the same people doing the saving and the same people doing the moaning - some thing never change.
Happy for you all that it looks like working out.
I personally no longer support the game but obviously retain a great affection for the club.
I won't be attending any matches next year unless I have a massive change of heart. However as a gesture of support I will buy two tickets for the first game of next season. Anyone who thinks they can raffle them off and make the club even more money can have them - PM me.
TRB and others - I really don't know how you find the strength

The agree with your post, but I think it is worthwhile picking up on one thing.
We don't have to spend the cap to compete in Super League. We may not be winning the Grand Final but it seems to have got into everyone's head that not winning means being in Championship.
There is nothing wrong with mid table in Super League.
I'd rather, if we could only spend say £1.2 million, still battle for the best we can rather than just slip away.
It's not all or nothing.

Don't disagree with you, we don't have to spend the full cap to compete in Super League, we already have competed.
The point I'm making is that with our current spend, which is well below the cap, we have run up losses of cira £2.2m in 3 years so even spending what we have done requires and injection of funds. Reducing the budget further, which we are, and have to, will make competing even more difficult but I'm confident we will.
If we are able to raise additional investment that may be able to increase the playing budget and make competing a little less difficult.

But and this is the million dollar question is the 2.2m shortfall down to bad management/ground improvements, so if we tighten the belts, plug the black holes and charge full price for season tickets we could be ok to spend similar amounts on playing staff without breaking the bank!

A lot of the debt (£1.2m in year 1) was due to Spirit of 1873 Ltd honoring sponsorships, season tickets etc. that had been paid to Wakefield Trinity RLFC Ltd prior to administration. I think there has been bad management in paying players over the odds so you may be right - tighten the belts, plug the black holes and pay full price for ST we may be able to pay a similar amounts on the playing budget.

| Not true ...spirt started off with a clean sheet I spoke to the accountant at that time and he confirmed that only 30 k is season ticket monies had been taken from the early bird offer.and if my memoury is correct they never appealed for advanced season ticket monies ...which could have been fraudulent ..and indeed if the club doent keep going now could be seen as such.
It was also confirmed that hardly any if any sponership had been paid and it was only at the start of the season that when that revenue comes in. As money is tight for every business and it was during the season when corporates paid their bills Eric France as example.
Now I guess it depends who you believe?
What I do do know is that if you believe glover and Elston and what we have been told........
record gates.....
everthing going well.....
ccj just normal in business....
1.2.mill loss normal! for first season ....
Think it does throw doubt with all the lies been told over the last few months.
In my simplistic calculations and looking at the last trading account published in 2010 under the old Wakefield trinity rlfc turnover was just short of 3 million.
If under the glover and elston regeem trading three seasons( 2 years 7 months) if they kept parity with that income it would have been circa 7.5 million and with loans of circa 2 million doesn that mean we have squandered in the region of 9.5 million in that time?
Yet we were told that they were only spending the same as the old club ? in wages?
Mr carter having listened to his club video was the accountant for over eighteen months of this period ?and I for aploaud his efforts to leep the club going, but if the figers I have quoted are not too far away he will need deep pockets or we will need all the fighting spirt that this club is renound for.
