| Quote: Tommy Duckfingers "So we have already "borrowed against" next years season ticket money, and if this is true dipped into next years SL payment - all on the top of our share of Bradford's money that was distributed throughout the other clubs - one things for sure, if we continue in this vein borrowing from Peter to pay Paul we will be in the poop again before long. I have noticed a couple of fitting quotes on sig's lately
You get all that from "The Rfl helped us"........

| The only way a club can be competitive and break the cycle is to have real money behind them.
It is patently obvious that crowd revenue and other sources are insufficient.
The same applies to football.
The top clubs have unbelievably wealthy backers behind them.
Even in the sixties Wakefield's great team was created by being able to bring in internationals such as Turner,Wilkinson and Vines to compliment what we already had coming through.
We had two local wealthy businessmen who enabled this.

Stuart Hatfield followed by Ronnie Fell. It started to go downhill when Ronnie Fell died and his wife wasn't interested in rugby.
It's a bit "chicken & egg" . You need the wealthy benefactor to make you successful but you end up in the clag when he goes. I's still rather have the benefactor and success, even if only for a limited period, rather than the perpetual struggle.

I assume you missed the part that said "if this is true" in reference to the RFL advancing us the Sky money.

I guess I did but I would have put that in the first line to make it clear.
You have however made it clear now so I take my sarcasm back.

It's actually a quote from Albert Einstein; significantly weightier than some dialogue from one of the worst sequels ever made, I'm sure you'll agree.

| My take on the situation is that we were told to upgrade the ground and spent a boat load of brass (500k) whilst none of the others did (Cas, Bulls). Hence the RFL have taken this into consideration regarding helping us out.

I totally agree with you, although I doubt that will carry any weight in terms of them wanting the money back.

| They might not want the money back it might be a token gesture from rfl for glovers hard work off the field and in showing he's put time and effort into the club they have rewarded him.

But, on the other hand, Belle Vue has needed improving for donkey's years. It's ok the club whinging that it's not needed for criteria purposes or whatever, but it was long overdue for us supporters.

On reading the article, I think the 300k tax bill referred to was the one prior to admin in 2011.

The wording is ambiguous/misleading.
Deliberate? or just poor paragraphing?
Journalists' perogative?

If thats what the Halifax Courier has to say on the matter, It will be interesting to see what the Wakey Express say.
Could it be that the Halifax rag wants to build the hopes up of any fax fans????
