Quote: kinleycat "It's a tough one, £20 per adult (on the gate) game is getting pricey, and to encourage rapid growth the £100 deal was fantastic, a staged but realistic increase to about £180-£200 seems reasonable though over say the next three years.
Hopefully that will take all the current ST holders and encourage more growth and hopefully fund the squad development that will sustain the growth in the future.'"

Id like to see a early bird ticket offer of around the £130-£140 mark and those buying later pay say around £160-£165 that would increase earlybird sales in theory and allow us to build on from this season. With a increase again subject to getting the newmarket permission.

While i understand the reason behind this post and don't totaly dismiss it, try telling that to those fans who don't have that sort of money, you obviously are ok with paying that amount.

Not everyone is.

At a little over £15 per game I think £200 for a ST is reasonably priced if the team is challenging for a top eigh place.
I know times are tough, but that is also the case for the club too and at the end of the day, the more money the club generate helps to propel the club forward.
While I entirely accept your point, it isn't a charity and without necessary income we will never achieve much.
It's a personal decision based on people's wish for club success against what they are able to see as spare or affordable.
I suppose the silver and bronze memberships are a key to this too.

This is the conundrum for all professional sports clubs.
Until they reach a situation where they can sell the capacity of the stadium, they have to balance the bums on seats (and the associated match day spend), to maximise their income.
Obviously there is sponsorship on top of this but, for matchday it is better to fill the stadium by selling lower priced tickets, than it is to charge a higher price and have the place half empty.
As a club, Wakefield have done really well in increasing attendances, especially in view of the ecconomic situation and ther should be an increase in numbers once Newmarket is in place but, until they can achieve close to capacity, then discounted tickets will need to remain.
All of this assumes that a lower entry price has a positive effect on crowd numbers.
ST's have been an absolute bargain this season although many ST holders have also joined the 1873 club, so there has probably been an increase in income when the two are put together, especially when factoring ion matchday spend from the increased numbers.
The club deserve congratulating on this aspect and as fans we need to keep banging the drum and helping them go forward.

Can't argue with that and have no wish to.

I don't see how we can be sure the club will raise more money by increasing prices to £200. I think it would be foolish.

The clubs not a charity, thats news to me mate, i have been donating to this worthy cause for a long time icon_lol.gif

The Gold and silver memberships do seem to work and is a big plus for fans who don't purchase a full season ticket.

My biggest gripe is (and its not aimed at Belly cos he does not mean it that way) those who have money see it differently from those who don't and in most cases don't care.

I expect and hope for a increase next season that reflects the climate in this sodding country.

£135 Early bird for existing holders and £150 Early bird for new season ticket holders and rising to £180.

We'll see.

Just a though, i paid less this season for my ST but bought 1 extra ST.

Having paid the full price for Season Tickets for many a year now , it was an excellent gesture by the club to get Wakey back in the local publics eye with the cheaper tickets.
If the tickets are increased steeply next season it would be good to see the admin team suggest an easy payment plan & like seasons gone by offer us cut price replica Shirts for say a tenner.
But the bottom line is that the club need our money & by offering cheap S Ts for long term can end up backfiring on the club, unless you are a rich uncle Ken Davy

Until we've ticked the RFL's 5000 members box, I think we still need to discount membership heavily.

I bought 3 season tickets this year: 1 concession for my dad £80, a child's for my nephew £20 and one for myself at £100, even though I'll only get to the last 2 home games, total £200. The previous season I bought a concession & 3 children's, but paid on the gate for the few matches I could get to; total £180.

At what price would I buy all 3 next year? If I can get the same for £250, I'll probably renew.

I don't think anyone expects it to be £100 considering the improvements to the club and the ground this year, but how much more? I think £130 would be a good price, i.e. a tenner a game; easy to promote.

Make it for a specific limited period, no extensions, get the money in early. I think this worked well last year.

I think a payment plan would assist some people if prices rise considerably particularly in todays economic climate.

I think everyone has their own circumstances and differing price structures will appeal to different people. This is only the second time in nearly 30 years that I've held a season ticket.

I bought two for this season. As many of you know I travel a lot so can't make a lot of games but have made around 5 home games this year and will make one or two more. As a result I consider that I've broken even on my ticket. The other ticket is for my fiancee who has health issues and is not guaranteed to attend. That ticket has been used twice so far this season and I'm unlikely to see it used for enough games to recover the cost. However at £100 a shot I have no gripes since it is a sunk cost for us and easier than trying to buy tickets the week of the match and then find out on the day that she is unable to make it. We have seated tickets because it is necessary really.

In addition, the two seats to the right of us have been sold as season tickets (the club confirmed this to me the other week when I used the bring a friend voucher) yet I've only seen them occuppied for the Cas match.

In these situations the Club has received more money than it would do otherwise as people have paid for tickets and then not attended > not attending and not paying on the gate.

The £100 offer made this an easy choice for me. At c. £200 a pop there is no way it is economically viable for us due to our circumstances.

There is an economic rule where there is a trade off between price and volume to seek to maximise returns. The higher the price = lower volume, lower price = higher volume. It is a case of maximising this at the right level; who knows where this is for Wakefield?

Overall Elston and Glover will know the numbers and how we are doing. We have around 4k season ticket holders and really need to increase this for keeping the RFL happy, I suspect this is possible.

If there is a small increase in price say to £120 or an early redemption discount price for existing season ticket holders then I think this is a good policy.

I like having our season ticket and some how think it is a good idea to retain them for some potential benefit once/if Newmarket go ahead. However, like many it is down to personal finances and I need to let my wallet rule my heart.

Definitely, also beneficial to the club as they wouldn't be "front loading" their finances a la Bulls.

I think an increase to the £150 mark would be justified, given a decent second half of the season dig, good news on the PI and some interesting recruitment for next year. Obviously a payment plan is a help for those folk who struggle with the initial outlay.

A deal incorporating 1873 membership would be a great idea, or a discounted ST if you are part of 1873 club.

Agreed.

If I were Mr Glover, I'd also be looking at some kind of additional tie-in with WYW - a discount voucher with each ST or somesuch; he deserves to get something back into the business that is in all likelihood bankrolling WTW to some extent.

I also know where you are coming from, I'm 49 and as skint as I can ever remember when I should be minted by now. So cheap ticketing is a boom for me. The issue I have is not with me, you or Belly. It's with those who are part of the owt for nowt brigade. They are lapping up the cheap Rugby fat the moment - but IMO it's these people (many well able to pay full) who will moan and groan when the club needs to recoup some revenue as the squad builds and costs increase.

It's a delicate balance - on the one hand the club owes it to the fans to help out in these rough times and keep up the numbers - we certainly can't let people slip away. However on the other hand we can't devalue the price of a game so much that when times improve and we want to go forward people won't pay the proper rate.

At least for now it's targeted, if we start giving out masses of freebies then I will worry.

now compare what you pay and the position we are in the league

we haven't built the euphoria (yet) within the fan base like the top clubs do but we now are in a position to announce the new stadium and got a young side that is competing well in the 9s, a few more good results in the u20s and we will be in the top 6.

we do get value for money but we need the like of sundays game to help expand the season ticket sales, not a case of the owt for nowt brigade vasty, most will come back time after time if results like that can be expected.

I expect us to pay full price when we get to Newmarket but we do now need to market the prices wisely or all the hard work will of been done for nothing.

As soon as this season finishes I would be looking at marketing next seasons straight away with early bird offers, I would also use the season ticket number into a prize draw to help encourage early offers, we sold 4K last season, lets say we had 4 draws with next season each with a 1K prize, that's just a £1 a season ticket
not rocket science, we talked gimmicks last season but nothing was done with the season ticket number, I also mentioned about what Huddersfield once did with a car as a prize early into the season. gimmicks do work and I hope the club just thinks this one out, we have a business man that should now all about hyping your brand.
