| What a role model Ben Cockayne is.
He is a terrific player let down by his moronic attitude. He will always get abuse from sections of the crowd due to his disgraceful past. Whilst I don't condone some of the responses he got from the crowd, he should be professional enough to ignore it. Only an immature petulant idiot would try and bait the crowd. He gets paid to be a professional and it's about time he started acting like it.
We have enough problems with idiots at our clubs without players trying to encourage them. I can't believe some of your fans are condoning his behaviour. Do two wrongs make a right in Wakefield?

It's good to know that Hull fans are holding up the moral integrity of Rugby League. It must have been very time consuming giving Sean long grief when he played for you given his dubious past. In fact I'm surprised Hull fans ever have time to support their team given the number of dubious characters we have knocking around in Super League.
For what it is worth I am no fan of Cockayne and would have preferred him not to have come to our club but then as I have already said our club and the sport long crossed what I would see as the moral line regarding player behaviour so that's what we have to live with. Why should any player have to put up with the sort of grief Cockayne got yesterday and not then be able to celebrate and give a bit back when the tables are turned? I mean if we are taking the moral high ground then most Hull fans should have been removed from the ground before kick off given their foul and abusive chanting towards Ganson as he warmed up, it is a family game after all...

| If a player who has been abused for 80 minutes and had bottles thrown at him after the final hooter
can't celebrate in front of his own supporters at thier own ground then there's something wrong
isn't there?

And lets face it Castleford got fined/warned for the same thing it was a disgrace the abuse players/fans/officials got from a large section of Hull supporters, would it of been better that Hull fans didn't abuse the ref and throw bottles at players in the first place...??? It is Hull fans that need to stand back and take a look at the simpletons around them do the right thing and get them band from our family sport..

Understand what you are saying but i don't see an issue with players giving a bit back. For far too long fans have hurled abuse at players then cried foul when the player retorts. Although a little juvenile, he didn't appear to do anything more then going OTT celebrating the win, hardly a crime.
Jason Chan once gave the Trinity supporters the finger when he was getting a bit of stick from them and last season Chase did a little jig in front of us following a Cas victory due the stick he was getting about his liberty.

| I have supported Wakefield for 37 years and Hull and Hull KR have always being a horrible nasty bunch I have being to every ground in the RL and watched many other games that did not involve Wakefield I have seen very few problems other than when we play the Hull clubs they both have nasty foul mouthed fans who would be better off supporting Leeds Utd. I have watched games like Fev V Cas Dewsbury V Batley Cas v Wakey and barr the rare incident banter is banter but the Hull fans go too far.
Ref Ben Cockayne our club gave him the chance and the kid has taken it with both hands for me one of our better signings in the SL era I do not care about his past he had paid the price for it and its now down to him to grow up and do what he does well he is a very good RL player

This is Hull right? The bastion of player decency - you ask older fans what Eastwood got done for in the early 1990's - it would make Ben look like a monk.

| I notice that Hull fans are insisting his treatment is based on his criminal conviction, and not his longstanding links to Rovers. Can I ask, do all visiting fans abuse him?

Erm excuse me but as a Rovers fan I,ve been coming to Belle Vue for many years, and don't recall any trouble between our two clubs,
ALL clubs(including your own) have a minority of idiots, but think you will find that this has nothing at all to do with my club so please don't bring us into it.
And it's "have always been" not being

I never noticed Tavita Leo Latu being singled out for abuse by the FC fans despite his misdemeanour's.
Cockayne, as you no doubt will know, is a love or hate character, he does rattle cages and rubs people up the wrong way so I’m sure he gets some reaction, but ultimately it’s because of something he does during the game rather than before the game starts.
He knocked on the from the KO right in front of the majority of the Hull fans who took huge delight in mocking him so no doubt his over the top celebration was born in someway from that.
