I think he has organised us well at 1st receiver and bossed it well from there. Needs help from 6 and i think Wildie could be the person to do this going forward. John has not done much to help Smith from stand off so far in the games he has played.

Quote: kinleycat "And replace him with whom?
I accept that like you say he may not get a gig at ten other clubs, but out of the players that would, few of them on the back of the last few years, would have come to us.
A one year contract for him was exactly right, give him something to play for and give us some time to stabilise in the hope that if it didn't work out we were in a more promising position when recruitment came back around.'"

Give Wood/Wildie some proper game time instead of bit parts, don't get me wrong Smith shows flashes of good stuff in attack but the other parts of his game outweigh those moments. It's exactly why Wigan shipped him off back home, he's been given a second chance with us but not taken it at all.

His/Their job would be a lot easier if he was working behind a pack making more yards.

Tis about time to change things in halves though.

Why do some people on here need a scapegoat all the time? Look, the team isnt playing well, we have plenty of other players who aren't firing but hey, lets look for someone to cane. Face facts, smith is playing behind a beaten pack, cooper Cronk would struggle to shine. Get behind our team. If your chasing success go follow Wigan.

Cooper Cronk v Tim Smith hmmmmmm Come on. No-one expects instant success (certainly not me, I believe in 90% of this squad) but Tim Smith ? Computer says no.

Lets face it he's right Cronk would struggle to shine behind our pack.

Danny Brough didnt seem to struggle behind a poor pack, infact he used to thrive on being the main man. Pace, skill, thinking outside the box. Smith couldn't lace Broughs boots never mind Cronk.

mate. broughy wasn't playing at the back of a poor pack when he was at wakefield. smithy is quality player. there isn't any half backs in sl that would look any good playing behind a non existant front row.. i don't care who you put there. wakefields front row is probably the worst i have seen in the last ten years. the bench against saints was an out and out joke. when you have a quality hooker having to play prop against some of the biggest front rowers in the game there is definitely something radically wrong when johnson is playing in the 21's. its a joke

eusa_clap.gif Completely agree. Rugby is a game where if you have a dominant pack or an equal pack the game becomes easier for the backs. Smith has got it tough with a weak/inconsistent WTW pack. We allowed a 30 yr old genuine SL prop in Korkidas to leave and we did not replace him with anything better which was a mistake.

Aiton should be at 9 and the bench should have had 2 props Johnson & James on it the other day - a coaching mistake. eusa_wall.gif .

its got to be said yet again at Wakefield the underperformers are all overseas Smith/John/Southern/Mellers and its being the case for years leave them at home or spend the same money on 2 and get more quality eg Alton

Thats purely hindsight police though isnt it.

So who are you going to advise the quality we sign next season then and what happens if they dont live up to expectation. There is a lot to be said about people settling into a new culture the classic for me was pat Richards the first season he was all over the place since then he ripped it up. I am more interested in the longer trem and seeing some of these players putting it together.

Ok Johnson is not an out and out front rower hes a second rower and for what my opinion is worth he is a shodow of last season perhaps thats becuase there are better plyers than him than last season at the club or he is off form.

No doubt our props arent up to much at the moment especially now Wilkes is out, but I forgot Korki was a collision busting, offloading, hard tackling machine. More like a ball dropping, penalty machine. But the lad gave 100% so all is good.

Tim Smith has been a mixed bag so far this season just like Trinity, when we have been good he has been the stand out player, imo he has been trying to do too much because who ever has been his half back partner they have been poor, plus the fact we're seriously lacking in depth in the front row our half backs will more often than not struggle to get our team on the front foot.

I think the biggest problem we have is Agar as coach, poor team selection and no appartent motivation, maybe this will change next season when he can bring in his own players and ship out the 1s he doesn't rate which by the looks of it will be half the squad.
