22151_1298059614.jpg LOOKING FOR ACCOMMODATION IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA

| Quote: bren2k "The original plans shown at the Cedar Court meeting have altered a bit, due to Sky's requirements for televised matches being changed and some new building regs. At the last public meeting, AG showed some diagrams of the new plans and advised that since they'd had to resubmit to planning (because of the above) they'd also taken the opportunity to revise some of the materials that were being used, so the finished job will be less obtrusive and appear more 'permanent' in nature.
Am I recalling that correctly?'"
I think you are. I believe there will be a "roof" over part of the West Terrace and at the back of the goals.

| Quote: sixtogo "So are ALL the 'new stands' promised at the Ceder Court meeting being constructed then? Including the one in front of the hospitality suite?'"
Firstly, the illustrations of proposed plans shown Cedar Court were exactly that, an illustration and a proposal. Just because the club had a rough sketch (which let's be honest, at that stage that's all we had) didn't mean ALL the work would go ahead. If it worked like that we would be playing out of Newmarket. It was a vision for what the club were proposing to do to Belle Vue, however, what they propose and what they are allowed are two very different things.
The stand in front of the hospitality won't go ahead owing to what bren2k has said, Ambulance access. Not quite sure how Ambulance access interferes with it, but that's the reasoning behind that one.
The West stand had funding in place to run the length of the pitch, however SKY vetoed that one, with plans now revised to run half the length of the pitch.
Both these things were included in the sketch shown at Cedar Court. Both were worked for through the relevant bodies, in this case the Ambulance Service and SKY before it even got to a full planning application and both were rejected. The latter now approved using the adapted plans.
That aside the only other deviation from the original proposal was the complete flattening and rebuild of the Northern terrace. I am not sure why, but suspect this got quashed prior to submitting the plans. You have to bear in mind the planning we do have approval for is temporary. Flattening and rebuilding the Northern Terrace is in no way temporary. We are pushing for a new stadium, temporary should be our middle name when it comes to changing Belle Vue. For that reason it seems a much more sensible option to gain planning on what we have, than go for something completely unrealistic.
All this was included in our Super League license application. As has been said many MANY times, it was specified that the work would be completed this season, and not necessarily before the season.
If I were Andrew Glover I wouldn't even bother. I realise it is part of our license application therefore we are now obligated to do the work, but how long has Belle Vue stood as it is right now? It is a massive waste of time and money and TBH the RFL shouldn't be asking us to do it. Yes people will moan and claim it's more broken promises , but stuff them. Why should we fork out to provide what is essentially cover from the weather, when the RFL stated only 3 weeks ago that they don't have any plans to update the single most exposed ground in the country?

I agree with this. I would have written to them and tell them we believe in Newmarket so will be postponing the work until a decision is made as the money could be better spent on a new stadium. That said its a bit late for this now.

It's not a waste of money, given that if we don't do it, the RFL will boot us out of SL for not delivering on our promise to complete the works during this season.
If we're spending say, 300k on temporary ground improvements to secure 3 years worth of SL money, commercial revenue and matchday income, that seems to me to be an eminently sensible business decision.

It will also encourage more away fans to come to Belle Vue especially when it's raining. We can't afford not to make these improvements.

I agree with this entirely because of an outrageous history of false promises the present board have, in my opinion, GOT to honour their promise and I'm sure they will.
There is also the fact that NM has not yet been approved and god forbid, should it fail, an improved BV may buy us time if we again have to look elsewhere.

| I hope they build them whatever the case, will be nice to see Belle Vue tarted up, won't get rained on and it will create a better atmosphere. More people might turn up this season too, not to mention the fact that the club made a massive announcement to the fans that if we got a franchise we would have these roofs installed.

If the unthinkable was to happen and NM wasn't approved I think we would look into purchasing back belle Vue and staying put. A covered western terrace for the lads

A true RL ground, great atmosphere with a good crowd, thousands of happy memories . If NM fails (Not being negative now-just a hypothetical scenario you understand) I wander if BV might be still a feesible proposition - although I know it isn't just the ground of course it's parking issues etc and the fact that the surrounding area is not a great advert for Wakefield is it!
