| I take it that stand was opposite our existing one now? I wouldn't have thought there would have been enough room there to have that! Did they sell off some land behind it or something?

| Every time you see a pic, even if its similar to many others it always brings back memories.
Little bits you've forgotten come flooding back.
Happy days.

| As someone who only started watching the Mighty Trin in 1988, its hard to imagine the stand on the western terrace or at the "flats" end.
Both stands look pretty good.
Did the both have to come down after the Valley Parade fire, or were there any other reasons behind the disappearance ?

| What a powerful athlete Brian Julliff was, hard to beleive he was a winger of the 70s as he'd fit right into today's game.

Nope. The stand on the West terrace did despite the fact that a very similar stand at Cas did not. Not obsessed just how it was, it may have been poor access that did for us.
The South stand was pulled down despite being the most modern to make way for a new stand with a Supermarket attached! This was done before planning permission or an agreement with the Supermarket was signed. Needless to say the inevitable happened and thus there was no structure at all on that end of the ground for nearly 20 years until the flats were built. It wasn't just Ted, the management at BV has been a disaster for 40 years!

| The dressing rooms were originally under that stand and there was a passageway underneath it so you could change ends. When the dressing rooms were moved a bar was opened in the vacant space. There was a strong smell of linament from the dressing rooms as you changed ends at half time, memories !

| Didn't we take down the west stand straight after the Bradford fire thinking it would be condemmed then only to realise after we could have kept it, not sure if true but thats the tale doing the rounds at the time and after the South bank carry on very believable. What about the floodlights we were told we had to replace them in late 80s for saftey reasons while other clubs close to us under the same council with floodlights in worse condition could keep theirs, is that true?

I remember the previous floodlights getting stolen prior to the current floodlights being errected. After that we were playng some games an Saturdays with an early kick off.

| Great picture - the good old days, when shorts were short!
I remember being able to run on to the pitch after the game to collect sock-ties; there's probably still a shoe-box full in my Mum's attic.

Don't remember that, though they were vulnerable.

Correct. Without wanting to upset our Cas friends it amazes me they get away with those floodlights so close to the pitch with the boxes around them. No wonder Cas wingers steer clear of the touchline, they are really poor. Suppose we can gloat as our floodlights are the only modern thing about BV.

| It would be a best seller if there were pictures of the old ground and some of the past stars as well could be put into a book. I am sure there are loads of pictures of the ground from the early days out there. There are also some good shots of the ground from "This Sporting Life".

at least they don't have those light blue three wheeled cars for the disabled parked on the touchlines anymore.
