| Even though Gareth Moore was a part time player in a lower league, tommy Lee and smith still couldn't lace his boots ! That's how bad Kears selections are and How bad our half back situation is !!!

That's the point, what are you basing this judgement of the new 'messiah' on?

With regard to giving young lads a go, take a look at the squad I suppose it depends on your definition of 'young' or relatively inexperienced; for me 8 out of the squad fall into this category ie PJ, Dean, Morton, Gledhill, Howarth, Vievers, Wildie and Tongia. Surely there must be a balance?
Also, with all due respect to Gareth Moore, I'm not sure where all this hype regarding him is coming from. A couple of months ago he was a part-time player in a lower division team, he's just coming back from an injury lay-off and to be fair on previous first team outings he's not been particularly a stand out (perhaps someone could give a view on his outstanding performances in the reserves as I've not viewed these games). Yet some are expecting him to be the catalyst for the upturn of the team.
If you were the Castleford coach what would you do if GM was in the team, I know what I would do (and what I know about tactics is negligible), I would taget him with a few big guys running at him and unless he is something very special then his attacking ability goes out of the window. I would leave GM for the future, with a good off-season, he may be part of the answer with better around him.'"

Just like Nathan Brown did in his home debut against the Giants, Griffin told me a day before the game that Brown and co had drilled it into his players all week to target GM, hence the attention he was getting when he was lining up a kick on the 4th or 5th tackle by Kirmond, Unfortunately for Huddersfield it failed massively due to GM having a blinder and getting MOM and scoring the majority of points in that game also a very good kicking game too . If you were at that game you will know what i mean ? And as a part timer for Batley he received the NL young player of the year award broke all point scoring records and played Internationally for Scotland, I dont think you get all these accolades from playing tiddlywinks,
Having said that ''PHe'' you make some good points !!!

I think the thing with Moore is that he showed some glimpses of creativity in the few games that he played. The reality is though it's not about what people have seen from Moore it's what they haven't seen from Lee and Smith on a regular basis. There is no creativity so by giving Moore another shot at least there is a possibility that something might happen. No one with any sense is suggesting he is the messiah or that he will turn the team around but he has shown more in his few starts than Lee has shown all season. As for his defensive it cannot be as bad as Lee's so again I would say he was worth a shot. The final point is that Moore is actually a half back whereas Lee is a hooker now call me old fashioned but when things are going badly and you have a pretty poor squad the last thing you need to do is play players out of position if you don't have to.

Dont you think coaches at every level from Junior to academy, to championship, to Super League have targetted him or every other scrum half or pivotal attacking force in the sport for years already ? I have watched him through the Leeds Academy for years, so your 'expert' evaluation of how you would 'beat' wakey is a little flawed as I dont recall in the games he played there was any negative feedback on his defence, because in the highlights I have seen the 'leaks' appear to be on the opposite side and i think that is the point people are making

| Don't see any value in sides having to 'target' GM in a team which includes such poor defenders as Dean, Smith, Lee, Rinaldi, Henderson, Griffin,Korkidas etc... Its not like you need to look or work particularly hard to find a way through.
Whilst I know GM is neither the Messiah nor the finished article I would rather pay my money to watch him develop as a player as opposed to suffering the 'efforts' of seasoned pros like Smith, Lee, Henderson etc etc

| Quote: RebelRebel "I can't really comment on individual players, having seen so little of Trin this season, but...
What's the point of using tried and failed combinations in a local derby at the back end of the season with nothing more to play for other than pride?
Will it really kill the young lads' development to be given a run out in this game, even if we end up on the back of another hiding? Playing against Cas means something to most of them, I would imagine. Being on the telly will give them an even greater buzz. The supporters want it, the players seem to want it, so why not?
What's the logic behind holding them back? There must be some, because Kear doesn't strike me as stupid. Far from it.
So why?
Is it out of spite?
Will it damage their development to be involved in the first team at this stage?
Does he really believe the 19 he's picked will trouble Cas?
Is he being good to us for the future, or is this Kear's revenge?
I don't know - what do you reckon?'" You're sounding like me!!!!! I think if Kear has been given a secret nod by Cas then why should he give 100% for our cause. It won't hurt his career to see we get another hiding has the damage has already been done. I think Kear's lack of pride and loyalty has rubbed off on the team something chronic this year.

Don't flatter yourself. His is a fair and reasoned point. What you post is just relentless personal vendettas mixed with pure lunacy.
FWIW - before we dig into Kear lets just look at who else is to blame for this and is getting off very lightly. Glover and Elston are being totally spineless on this one. Why not just send Kear on gardening leave. Let Morrison or Dury run it what harm can it do. If this is an attempt to show Kear who's boss it's a spectacular mis judgement IMO.
This is a farce from all three of them.

Stranger things have happened in the world of Rugby League, and I say it tongue in cheek like rebel rebel might have been, so no need for your perpetual insults.

Rather ironic considering that you don't go to games. Will you be taking up the £100 season ticket offer now Kear is going?

I disagree completely. John Kear has been fantastic for this club since he came in 2006, but this season has been a write off before it even began. And regardless of what the license decision was, there was never going to be an incentive for either the players or coach, who all knew they would be leaving at the end of the season anyway. But for Glover to put Kear on gardening leave would be humiliating to a coach who has given so much to the club over the last 5 years, one who has guided us through some of the most difficult times imaginable. John Kear deserves a lap of honour at the Bradford game for what he has done for our club, which without him would have been in Championship for the last 5 seasons. And I include this season in that, as some of these players should not even be playing Super League, never mind winning games.

| The team I want on the field is the one most likely to win games. We could win two out of the last three games (Cas and Bulls) and play Leeds the week after Wembley. I don't want to finish bottom.
I don't see the players day in, day out, and so I don't know which is the best team, but I don't buy the idea that we should lose with plucky youngsters, to see how they go.

I would be more concerned about their judgement if they just let Morrison or Dury run it for a couple of weeks. As has already been suggested to send Kear on gardening leave would look rather shabby and be a tad unfair to Kear as far as I'm concerned.
If this is the only negative you kind find with Glover and Elston at the moment then it would appear that you are clutching at straws. The season ticket deal looks like a belter and the stadium plans are going ahead it would seem so Glover looks to be putting his money where his mouth is but you seem to be finding it hard to give him any credit at all. I know it's early doors and nobody is asking people to bow at his feet, though some are, but he deserves a bit more credit than some seem prepared to give.
