No more of a gamble than playing Jeremy Smith early season against Salford with no math practice under his belt.

Your missing the point. The messiah that is JK saw fit to risk Smith with no match practice - Moore has had over a month in a full time environment and has what the team desperately needs - a kicking game. If his defence is a bit suspect then I can live with that, as apart from the odd game including last Sunday, we have plenty of people in the team who can defend.

| People go on about his defence not being up to scratch but there are many halves in Super League whose defence isn't up to scratch and the seem to get on ok.
Also Jamie Rooney did well for us for a few seasons and was one of the main reasons why we stayed up in 2006 but he was poor in defence.

| I hope hope we do play Moore, but what worries me is it will be his first SL game and if he doesnt go too good, instead of giving him a run of games to prove himself some vultures on here will be staright in with the 'hes not SL standard and i told you he would be crap etc' i just hope people give him a few games before judgement..

Correct. Just like the 'Blaydire' gang you will almost be able to hear them creaming themselves if he has a poor game, very sad.

Are you the other half of the RLFANS coaching team who knows it's best not to play him? Given that he is the only half back in the squad and that JK, who will have seen him more often and closely than anyone on here, picked that squad I don't really understand your point. It's a gamble I think we all realise that but seems a fairly calculated one to me given recent performances.

| I don't think JK had the slightest intention of playing Moore this season, and rightly so as from what I'm told he is nowhere near ready. That said it makes the decision to let BJ go without an obvious replacement even more staggering! He probably will have to play be default.
Also, some seem to think he is our only H/B, but he isn't. Wildie is also a proper H/B. Wildie is doing OK but he's still struggling to make any real impact creatively on the game, what makes folk think Moore will do any better.
Despite being eratic Lee is far and away the best H/B we now have and that tells you just how weak we are in that position.
At the start of the 2009 season we had Brough, Obst, Latu, Rooney and Drew in Kears pivot positions! Even with what now looks an embarrassment of riches we only managed top 8 and an early exit from the play offs.
We are doing well to score let alone win games IMO. We started this season with everyone accepting that we would take what we could get. We over achieved in April and now expectations are OTT, again! Quality posters moaning about boring predictable play as if anything else is possible with the players we have. Even the edition of a quality H/B would make little difference as IMO the learning curve this team is on is too steep for most players to keep up.
Kear IMO sends the players out with these basic tactics because he knows we have nobody on the pitch other than perhaps Rinaldi on a good day with the nouse to make anything better work. If we stay in SL we need a new hooker and new H/B minimum to move on and that's working on the assumption Moore, Davey and Wildie actually make it. We have fallen a long way behind.
Initially that wasn't the new boards fault, I can see their reasoning even holding back now although I just don't get the BJ thing. Maybe they should do more but IMO their options are very limited. What is for certain is if we do stay in SL big money needs spending and if Hudds and our own previous experience in SL is anything to go by wait about 4 seasons for the team to click!
Instant or even imminent improvement - forget it IMO.

I have to disagree with that. Even with Brough, Obst, Latu, Rooney and Drew in the side we still used the same one out tactic that we use today. The difference being that we could still be creative in attack because of the likes of Brough/Latu/Drew and their ability to do something unexpected. We don't have that to fall back on any more, however I do agree that the OTT expectations merely add fuel to the frustration at our lack of attacking ability in the halves.

A bit of blind faith and the fact that nobody really knows if he will step up to the plate or not.

I think most people do accept that and we already have more points than I thought we would get but that doesn't mean I will stop wanting more from this team. I think you are little unfair on this team as even against a very good Catalan side we were 10 points behind and camped in their half for a decent period in the second half and a little bit of quality near the line could have made all the difference, same against cas in the cup.

I agree with what you are saying. The fact that we had Brough, Drew and Rooney putting the kick in or controlling the last play meant that we were a lot more exciting to watch because all 3 of those could create something out of nothing and/or had excellent kicking and unfortunately our current half backs don't have this capability. Maybe Moore will be able to solve this, maybe he wont but I think he needs to get the chance to prove himself.

| Our attack has been lacking a spark and Moore deserves a chance in the halves. Same with Wildie. It cant get any worse. People have also said that Moore is not great defensively. Again we cant do much worse as our wide defense is woeful. About time we showed some faith in the likes of Wildie and Moore and put them in the halves for an extended run. If they dont make it then so be it. We cant say we did not try.
