| Fair play, its just my opinion. I just think Wakefield have been technically very very weak these last few years. You are going forward with a very young inexperienced squad physically lacking probably all of your competitors.
It is vital that you improve technically and I cannot see Kear suddenly being able to do that. For me he like so many others from a certain era like Brian Noble have become very dated in their methods very quickly.
As much as it pains me to say it I would have looked to the Toyota Cup/NRL reserve comp for a more technical coach.
Apologies if you not agree, it is just my opinion.

Fair play, that's at least a considered opinion that you've taken time to explain. I don't entirely disagree - there are plenty of coaches out there who are more technical, and Kear is old-fashioned, but we need stability and the motivation to get through this season and compete, and Kear can give us both.

| Quote: the cat in the hat "Agreed - he's done so much for us, and God knows as much as we've needed his motivational and man-management skills in the past, we'll need them even more this season!
Not sure about beyond that, but we'll see how it goes for now.'"
Surely thats one of the strongest arguments to get rid, too? With the wholesale changes we have just seen I think now would have been the time to part company. I can't see the point with him myself, I don't think he will be with us next season - so why not give somebody new time to settle in and prepare for what, most likely, is going to be a period of 3 years at the very least in the lower division, somebody who we can build round - get all the changes done in 1 swoop, put a knife through the old regeime and the old board. Somebody who can put things in place now, rather than waste the first of our (hopefully) 3 years in the wilderness.
Very little, if anything, is expected from this club for the remainder of the year - indeed not finishing bottom and a half decent cup run is that is probably all we can hope for, so why not get a new man in and let him go. Presumabley he would be one of our biggest earners and potentially replaced more cheaply leaving much needed funds freed up for other areas.
Lets also not forget we have played some absolutely dire stuff since Easter, and our 5 drives and kick syle is likely to be even less effective than normal given we are so light up front and dont appear to have a kicker. You would have thought if his special "motivational" skills didn't come into play the first game of the season (when we normally start like a house on fire) against Cas with all the adversity surrounding us then what chance has it working now the dust is starting to settle? Also need to remember he wanted out at least twice last year and its only becuase of Ted we didnt let him go.
Paradoxically though, I think seen as he hasn't gone now it would be best for the team if he stayed - chance missed, if you see what I mean and thats not too much of a contradiction.

Although I really like Kear (he's the best coach we've had whilst I've been a supporter, since 2005) I do see your point and I agree to an extent. I don't think he'll be here next year and an opportunity was there to start afresh. However I still think we will need his motivation and man-management, and he will be a steadying influence (hopefully) in all the turmoil we have suffered.
Also, whilst giving someone new time to settle in before next year may be good, it could also backfire due to:
1) them being really good and then signing for someone else
2) us having a terrible season and getting 'tainted' with that as they go into next year (most likely scenario!)

| If we perform miracles and get to the play offs or say the semis in the cup do you still believe he won't be here? Highly unlikely I know but stranger things have happened!

Who, Kear?
You reckon with this bunch of players (plus any we can pick up) we have a hope in hell of getting anywhere near the play offs and thats before we have our points deduction? If he can get this bunch of players anywhere near he desevers the freedom of the City in my opinion.

I won't deny that!
Some brilliant memories, but a lot of absolute rubbish! Still, I must have been born a Wakey fan without even realising it - despite the negatives far outweighing the positives, I just can't pack it in!
