I reckon you've hit the nail on the head there RDM and if Redhall gets its way, not too many of our current crop of Superleague clubs will be safe in the longer term. Dublin, Glasgow, another London club and surely more from the continent to follow, although maybe the Angela Powers that be will see sense before we lose our heritage and the heartland clubs that contribute so greatly to making this game the greatest.

TBH, IMO Crusaders administration was Wakefields only saving grace (that was before NM got called in) so even though they removed the rule, it simply means Wakefield don't have that 'complaint' if they tried to kick you out.
It's a sad time of course, but when people mention Cas' stadium, at least it is the same project from the last round with seamingly funding as the only issue?
Take not from Widnes, it may not be a bad thing and you can finally shake off the previous administration's history and be re born a fresh.

| in an ideal world it would be the fans and clubs of this great game telling the Rfl what we want not tell us what we want, just opinion but wish we could implament a NRL style division in this game, big enough and no relegation nightmares, pretty bad how they run things over here

The saving grace for Widnes was the carrot dangled of a Championship club assured a licence. That gave them an incentive and something to aim for in 3 years. But, as Littlerich aludes to, there might not be,probably won't be,such a guarantee next time.Wakefield could be looking at at least six years in the Championship if they lose their SL status and if the RFL stick to their periodic 3 year licences.

Though the last bit is correct the guaranteed Championship place was not official until during the last season I don't think? Whether they do or don't keep that (personally I don't think they will do again) Wakey's big issue is that on stadia front if NM gets rejected then they fall behind the likes of Leigh & Halifax so will have to work hard to get club into a good position to re-apply!

| Quote: Slugger McBatt "A lot will depend on how much Cas can convince the RFL that they are not just posturing. If the RFL think that Cas won't actually complete the stadium, and will do nothing more than obtain planning permission to make it look good, then we might get the nod. I predict some diggers will move on site to shift some soil in around May. I expect the diggers to move off site again towards the end of July.'"
I am truely sorry for your plight and I really want Wakefield in the top flight and I said the same to fans that I spoke to on Saturday. But do you truely believe what you are saying?, because I can't. Are you seriously saying that Wakey would get the nod over Cas at this current moment in time, if so on what grounds?????. Most of your team are going/gone (Obst and Fegurson plus Murphy next) and the financial situation is still up in the air. Our plans are waiting final approval and are on WDC planning website for all to see. Like I said I would love this mess to sort itself out but I think you have made the RFL's mind up for them already.

And then i remember that its just not right to think like that. Is this what the games coming to, no longer concerned what happens on the pitch.
Don't like myself very much tbh.'"
I think most fans of teams out of SL, will be having these thoughts, at the very least once every 3 years.

Eh? If it get past the PI, it should be ready in 2013, whether it's the start of that year, depends how long the PI takes.

| You're in termoil, selling all your best players and realistically you've given the RFL the excuse they were looking for to kick us or you out.

As Widnes will put in a bid better than 3/4 current SL clubs it made sense for them to 'give hope' to other potential bidders knowing that they'd be putting one up anyway!
How many broken promises from 2008 bids? More than enough to boot at least one out!

Can see Widnes replacing Wakefield but apart from that which clubs from the Championship are better than what the SL already have?

If you don't get the stadium sorted, Halifax.
