Hope without planning is about as futile as waiting for a harvest without planting ------------------------------------- THE FIRST THING TO MAKE A DREAM COME TRUE,IS TO WAKE UP:icons3ae4_files/4583-27sowhat-msnicons.gif

Quote: G.Price Fan Club "A very sensible course of action would be to seek assurances from the rfl that the door will remain open to the Championship teams as it has been the past 3 years.
Sign a core block of current players capable of winning virtually every competition in the lower leagues and preparing for 3 years on the road back to SL.

With Newmarket completed and a winning team we will be a very attractive option. Especially if the expansion of London and Wales continues to be underwritten. The long held notion of "healthy heartland before expansion" might not seem so insane after 3 more years of underwriting expansionist franchises.

I couldn't agree more with posters who rightly see us as being able to contend with the vast majority of SL teams, we've just been run incredibly bad for the past 2 decades and need to be essentially demolished and built again from the ground up- in more than one way. I honestly believe that a well run Championship side would be a lot more of attractive to the "floaters" over the recent SL model. With a new 12,000 seater ground and a well financed, well promoted club, with a winning team could attract 5,000 average in the Championship. And when we achieve our goal of returning to the elite we have a solid (& happy) fan base to expand upon once again- with the facilities and finance that we deserve.

Our new BoD can deliver all this.

However if a certain man wanted to I'm sure he could invest in the RFL and SL so to speak, freeing up enough monies to maintain/increase the current level of funding for all clubs, whilst being able to expand to include 2/1 more teams/team.'"

Will that be possible on a £300.k salary cap?

Once a Sandal Wild Cat always a Sandal Wild Cat. Some talk of Bradford Northern and some of Hull and Leeds Of Wigan and St Helens and such great teams as these Of all the teams in Rugby league with me you will agree The best team in the whole wide world is Wakefield Trinity! Bring back the British Coal shirts for 2012[/color:3drl5tww] Come home Steve Georgallis & Nigel Wright[/color:3drl5tww]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_54709.jpg

Then push for change, use the transition of leagues to necessitate change. A similar premise to Wigan's exclusion from the salary cap during it's inception. "We'd like to play by the rules but we have existing commitments".

A wealthy and organised chairman can run rings round the RFL.

And so you aim towards the sky, And you'll rise high today, Fly away, Far away, Far from pain....:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_53838.jpg

Speaking as an outsider, I think the main problem you face as far as Super League goes, is that the authorities obviously don't see room for Cas and yourselves in the same competition.....One of you was always bound to go in the next round of franchises, unfortunately, your present financial woes makes you odds on favourites to go.

I think the biggest worry for you is that once you have gone from Super League, you could end up being seen as another provincial club and being seen as having little to give to a 'forward-thinking' competition.

Ultimately, and sadly, being a traditional and unglamourous club will count massively against you in the future.....Look how Widnes were shafted at the expense of the Welsh 'club'.

That’s my main worry, at least Widnes et al had a pathway & a guarantee to get back in. I’m not sure that the next time round there will be the same proviso, time will tell.

If not, the only way back would be for a SL club to go bust, but not one of the RFL’s pet projects, obviously icon_rolleyes.gif .

It has to be a worry that geography may go against you in three years should you find yourselves in the Championship.

On the other hand as someone has already alluded to how much longer can the RFL continue to keep its expansionist experiment on life support.

Crusaders, Quins and even Catalan have a tough 3 years ahead in an ever deteriorating economic climate and I would be surprised if all three are still standing in three years.

There will also be more traditional clubs that have some very testing times ahead especially if the image rights case isn't won by Leeds.

Presumably WTRLFC2011 or whatever the new company will be called won't have any historic debt regarding image rights, unless the new owners choose to take some debt on a la crusaders?

The image rights debt for Wakefield will be irrelevant anyway, if Leeds win the test case we would only owe 15% of £160,000 about £24,000

If we enter into some kind of arrangement with our creditors we may agree something like 10p in the £1 meaning we would only owe £16,000 if Leeds lose and just £240 if Leeds win.

Then of course we may just right everything off and pay none of the previous regimes debts.

Even if Leeds win there are at least 2 clubs that would face paying around £400,000 to the HMRC.

I think the reason crusaders only got 4 points was that the new/old owners inherited some of their old debt, so presumably we can assume the number of points deduction we're given will reflect the level of debt we have taken on (that's assuming we're all treat equally).

If Carlsberg made rugby clubs, they would be like Widnes!:

Whatever happens over the coming days, you will still have a club and that really is what is important.

At Widnes we went through this a few years ago, waking up to wonder if it is the end of Sunday afternoons watching the team is a daunting thought! Whether you retain SL status, or lose it, you will still have a core of support to see you through it and that is what puts a 'heartland' clubs head and shoulders above an expansion club!

In SL, I like to watch Wakey on TV and always follow their results and news - as do quite a few Widnes fans mainly due to our explayers who have gone your way over the years!

If I could offer any advice, it would be on season tickets. Your fans may be reluctant to buy them at the moment, but a thread here or on club site for season ticket pledges will tell any new owner that the fans support the club - ands that is a very important factor at such times!

Keep the faith, you will survive this (in SL I think!)

There's other consideration to take account of,
First and foremost is the level of debt which in Crusaders case was in excess of £2.2M whereas ours is less than £800K in total.

There's also the fact that we've made a genuine attempt to avoid Administration by paying off the debts that lead to our first two winding up orders. We even made a valiant although futile attempt to raise the money to stave off this winding up order.

In addition our owners are not just seeking a new start which allows them to hang on to control of the club, they are willing and want to walk away allowing new ownership of and therefore a real fresh start for Wakefield Trinity.

IMO the circumstance of our Administration are at worst the same as Crusaders but are probably better. I would be dismayed if we get 6 pts, OK with 4pts but expecting 2pts.

I'll prepare to be disappointed!
