Maybe a new coach in for Beans? What do you think? When staff are there 2 long they can get complacent i am in favour of a shake up but sill stick with Kear. Some fresh blood on coaching staff.'"
You talk about keeping Kear and then say shake up. How exactly is bringing a new coach for Beans a shake up???? When you are still keeping the main decision maker.
To put it in simple terms you are talking about getting rid of the apprentice because the teacher isn't good enough. The problem is clear, we have a coach with an ailing sense of loyalty, who tried to bail twice last season and was linked with a move to the capital before they announced McDermott's replacement. Don't forget not so long ago after Topliss passed away, the (lord and god (in some people's eyes)) Kear said something along the lines of wanting to beat his good friend David Topliss' record in charge at Wakefield and lead us into the new stadium. We have a fitness coach who is probably really good at getting consistent results in the other sports he has been involved with, but not he is not showing consistent results with us.
I think John Kear has done a great job for us, but like all things eventually they run their course and have to move on. Yes he lost three big players last year, but is still hardly justification for the poor run in the second half of the season. He over achieved at Sheffield, won a cup at Hull but then lost the dressing room. As for the international job, well to be honest he is supposed to be a big game coach and the games don't get any bigger than Internationals. With the best players to pick from he did nothing.
If a shake up is the answer, then it has to be a clean sweep. You can't leave the head person in situ and expect better results. As for the 'There is nobody else' that's just a poor argument, there always somebody else, other teams have managed to find replacements.
