| Quote: RED LEAGUE:1nnai4aa] ""The salford star is where you choose to get info from to raise an argument?Don't make me laugh! The salford star are as much behind our council than Bnp are behind asylum seekers! I know the editor of that magazine shes a crack pot! If there's anything to do with council spending or council backing of private adventures such as our stadium they start moaning about the citys green belt and how more money should be spent on public toilets or other things like that, just a load of tosh, there generally up in arms over any sort of progress in the city, they even slagged off the new media city (the new bbc head quarters) there just a crazy bunch of protesters who nobody even listens too, it like a group of save the planet bashers from wakefield who decided to form a wakefield star and started spouting crap about your club, nobody would listen and quite rightly so as there about as important as that dying old plant ive got in my back garden!'"
If its all lies then why don't you sue the paper, and as for your opening line, I did not know anybody on here wanted to start an arguement with salford fans its just one poster responding with a link from your local rag to a Salford fan clearly intent on making mischief hth.

| Quote: RED LEAGUE "Yes we had the review a couple of weeks ago, and got it passed, tbh after the council putting well over 10 million in the pot for the stadium i didnt see there being any problems? Our chairman was saying how very lucky we are to get council backing as the new goverment are being very harsh on other projects and even completely pulling plug all together, so we feel very fortunate that our project still goes ahead,'"
Very fortunate is an understatement.
I am finding it had to believe, in an era of unprecedented spending cuts, that Salford Council are prepared to take on such a financial burden, for the sake of a few thousand supporters.

It isn't a newspaper? Its a smalltime magazine put together by students in there spare time, just like the fanzines every teams supporters on rlfans put together, and it isnt against the law to disagree with anything so why would anyone sue them? The big issue probably gets more attention than the salford star mag, lol

Same goes for cas, can you really trust a club who have been in a financial mess twice!?
Us at salford have always been a very well run club and with the influx of money from our council £10m and the financial might of Peel holdings behind our stadium and with our build about to start at the begining of november i would say us salford have the best chance out of the three of us to get our licence, so imo it will be out of you guys and cas, i may be wrong but thats how it looks to me at the moment. Have cas got the money? have wakey? do superleague want two teams in the same city? opinions plz thanks'"
Same city,since when?

| Good luck to Wakefield, similar club to Salford.
If the worst does happen to you I for one (although a little relieved) wont be celebrating.
The whole thing is a mess.

| How can you lot talk down to us like you've not a worry in the world? Salford are in exactly the same situation as Wakefield and Castleford and no amount of Luke Pattern or whomever else you're getting giddy about will change that. You have to face facts, your council are footing the majority bill for your future as a super league franchise. How on earth that gives you a position of strength in the current economic climbs is inconceivable. You seem to think it's a done deal and you're a shoo-in. I'd hang fire to find out if everything pans out how you think before you start telling us that our future is in doubt. At present you are not that far ahead of us and as we have found out to our cost over the years, nothing is guranteed when you're reliant on politics.

Believe me pal we are. We have new members joining the board from peel holdings, (might be a reason we have money to spend next year) so our board will be even more financially secure unlike yours, and on the stadium front your at stage one, we were at stage one about 5 years ago, don't expect it to be all rosy getting planning passed because it doesn't work like that, all it takes is a fiew complaints and petitions from locals or business's and your set back months as we at salford found out in the past, plus do you seriously think your going to get the outline planning application the stadium build application, new roads passed by the highways agency, the remenition work started and finished and the stadium started and completed by the start of 2012? Don't make me laugh! We're miles ahead of wakefield. FACT!

You are ahead of us, no doubt about that. How far ahead though depends on how quickly you can get your stadium built.
Quote from RFLHow are clubs planning new or redeveloped stadia going to be assessed?
New stadiums or redevelopments of existing stadiums will only be taken into account if the RFL is satisfied that the stadium will be open or the redevelopment finished by the start of the 2012 season.
All it takes is for some holdups in your build and guess what, even if you're 90% complete it will count for nothing. (Unless our friends at the RFL bend their rules again to suit their own aims - not that that would happen of course!!)
As I said before, given an equal front on the stadium issue, Wakey and Cas tick more boxes than Salford, so if we are built, or you are not, then you're back in the mire with us!!
Don't count your chickens just yet!

Pal we start building in november? You havn't even got the first pahse planning permission entered yet never mind granted? And we're talking about peel holdings here responsable for the Trafford centre, john lennon airport, the bbc media city, the albert dock regeneration, salford quays, liverpool one shopping centre, there just a few projects they have done in past years there never late on any of their projects. The chairman of peel even has his own personal office in the houses of parliment their that powerful, Plus the council are part funding it aswel so there isnt really anything that can hol it up? And as a man in the construction game myself the only thing known to hold up any stadium projects is lack of money and believe me we don't lack that on our stadium.

It was a Salford fan who started this thread - for what purpose I know not.
Good luck to you and yours - it's taken a long time to get there - but don't come on here in your ignorant tone trying to tell us where we are or aren't. We know exactly what we need to do and everything is in place to achieve that.
So as much fun as this thread is as a dick measuring contest - it can stop right here!
