I can not believe this post. There is nothing wrong with going out for a meal with their families(who were with them) If you new these boys ,you would know they would have been gutted by the loss but would already be thinking about the next game. These boys would probably not even been having a drink.Sharing time with good friends(who are as close as family) is all part of being a footballer or just being human!

| Players are wired untill 3-4 sometimes 5 in the mornng after a match. They can't sleep because they are still hyped up, winding down with mates and a few beers is the only thing they can really do to get to sleep.
Better than taking sleeping pills and painkillers?

They are human after all.

| Like I said, have a bit of common sense. If you've been hammered by your rivals, why not go out somewhere where people who are very disappointed by the result are unlikely to see you enjoying yourself.
It isn't a normal job, you can't compare it to working in a factory/office/whatever - if you have a bad day at work, it doesn't matter if anyone sees you drinking because no-one will care!

That maybe true (and I have no idea what line of work you are in), but how often do you go to work and then have to compete with a rival company in a match like circumstance.
I do see your point but you cannot honestly pitch professional sport against everyday employment.
I really don't see the big deal with players going out for a meal and a drink after a game (win, lose or draw). Having been in that position myself trust me just because the were laughing and joking doesn't mean that they weren't hurting inside.

| First of all, what a waste of a thread, but as we are here
If we are going to compare sport to work, supporters always make the mistake of thinking they have a say in what the players do.
We are not employers, or even managers. At best we are customers. I know we all have opinions and some expert some not, but we have no actual say......apart from not watching any more and costing the club money....in the same way a customer of Sainsbury can choose to shop at Morrisons.
We have no say in what they do in their private life in exactly the same way customers at Tesco can't go tell the girl behind the counter not to buy that shade of eye-liner!
To be honest I'm struggling to find a way of explaining it better than "don't be stupid".

| I get a bit pee'd off when players have a laugh with the opposition straight after the hooter when we've been thrashed.
I don't see that very often these days though as I'm generally in the car driving home by this time.
Bit over the top expecting them to beat themselves up all night.
Hope the original poster was with an adult whilst in the Red Kite.

I agree with your post, but had to take issue with that part; in my view, supporting a sports club makes you more than just a customer - it makes you a stakeholder, and that relationship is a bit more complicated than a purely commercial one.
In general though, I think you're spot on; it probably helps to remember that for the majority of these lads, playing for WTW is a job of work. Most of them certainly don't love the club in the same way that we do.

Now I understand why its the same old faces on here week in week out, if you have an opinion against the club/ players you get slated for it. They are over paid and over rated IMHO. Think only 3 or 4 would get into any other SL side, thats how poor I think we have become over the last dozen games or so and I find it hard to see where we will get anymore points this season
Not by me old pal, i've given up defending anyone but myself.
£72 my familly shelled out on sunday, hope they enjoyed the night cos they ruined mine.
