And would that be why Salford sacked him?

Agreed - I can't see us attracting an established Oz coach, but maybe an assistant somewhere who needs to develop, much like we do?
For me, if Kear is to go, I think we should grasp the nettle and go for a full blown change of culture at the club.
Having said that - all quiet on the stadium front atm; until we get that sorted, the Karl Harrisons of this world are probably all we can aspire to.

I can actually believe that. Especially knowing Steve Simms from the past.

| if he goes please lets not just promote beans
we need a coach who can organise a defensive line, and a few planned moves would be nice
new people coming in with new ideas
there is only so much one out rugby we can stand

| If we promoted Beans i feel the same could hapen that happened when we promoted Tony Smith to replace Shane Mcnally and we deffinatly don't want that.
If Kear does leave and i personally don't want him to, then i would like to see a complete change with us getting a coach who will come in and improve the defence much like Nathan Brown did at the Giants.

From what I have heard that is a distinct possibility.

| I'd go if I were him. It's probably the only chance he'd get to coach outside the UK at a decent level, and there are worse places to live than South-West France. That said, I think his stay over there might be a short one. I'm not sure the Kear philosophy of rugby and the French philosophy of rugby would co-exist happily. Does he know what the French for "it's like watching paint dry" is?

JK did not deny he was in the running when asked by the League Express and I suppose with the stadium issue still up in the air, we at the moment can only be assured of being a superleague club for one more season, whereas Catalans are a shoe-in for a further 3 years when the franchises are handed out.
If he does go, we may have the same problem attracting a decent new coach as TRB has already alluded to re players (ie we can at present only guarantee 1 year in the top division)

Absolutely and, worryingly, all has been quiet on the stadium front for the past couple of weeks.
Perhaps JK knows something we don't, so is securing his SL future? Maybe JD will turn up at Les Cats next season? JK is keen on taking his protege's with him after all - that's how we've ended up with Cooke.

| If John Kear does go then it's Millward we need. At least the "paint" won't dry.
