Quote: jonh "Lets hope so for everyone in the Cities sake.

Things seem to be picking up in Wakefield and a Stadium will be the final piece of the jigsaw from the current developments going on.'"

Fantastic work done by so many people to get around 14 or 15,000 signitures.
That amount of public opinion surely can't bei gnored!

I walked through Wakefield city centre during the week and as I passed through the new bull ring I looked around and was genuinely proud of how good it has turned out. When you consider the new areas that will be opened up in the next two to three years, Trinity walk, Ridings extension and Westgate etc.. The city centre is set to grow to about three times it's traditional size with much of the developments being done in a very tastefull, semi traditional style.

A new stadium for Wakefield Trinity will be the icing on the cake and should really help to make Wakefield a city of some significance.

Agree about the Bullring. For all the moaning about it during construction it's turned out nicely. Far better then how it looked before.

Just another civil servant with no stake in our city.

I for one think we need to go back to a traditional city status and cut off the drains on our city.

From what i hear he's very unprofessional, and with such a tiny majority he should be a little more canny.

If he drags his feet on this one he may as well start writing his farewell speech to his peers. Because the city won't stand for another shambles.

I think the best course of action is to kill him with kindness. Let him believe he has done more than he actually has on the project, paint him as a Central figure the project could not have done without and the man to issue in the renaissance of our city that could well be on the horizon with all the new developments within the city.

He's not a civil servant, he's a publicly elected official.

Whilst his cabinet is fairly strong as he's in 'donkey in a red rosette' territory (although his seat is by no means as safe as some of his cronies). Why is he able to get away with it? The bulk of his lot's support is over that way. The weaker Labour get overall, the weaker the representation of the Wakey wards are within the local government. Yes he knows his group's time may be up next time around, but I assume he has figured that annoying Wakey fans isn't the crucial factor in that. Generally, the more the Cas mafia feather their own nests until their time is up, the more chance they have of retaining their own seats.

Of course, all of this assumes a certain element of consipracy theory about it. Then again, it goes on left right and centre at a national level, although there it is often the marginal seats getting the best treatment. A Far bigger scandal than any drop in the ocean MPs expenses tosh in my mind.

The bigger question is would the grass be any greener under an alternative? Can't say the Tories are reknown for investment in this kind of thing. What we have to do, and I assume TRB etc are doing sterling work on this, is promote how it is beneficial it is generally to the area, in terms of facilities, prestige, job creation and general promotion of the area.

I'm not at liberty to say too much on the political issue, as I wouldn't wish to jepeordise the support from any party, but there is a real need to keep the pressure on Mr Box at this time!

Don't you just love politics when 1 person can potentially affect the hard work done by an organised and motivated group of voulunteers who care enough to try and improve the local facilities. Surely 1 person can't argue against 15,000 signatures!!!

Given his allegiance to Cas he should do the decent thing and declare a conflict of interest and not be involved in the process
