| Quote: chapster "do they do anger management as a course too?
out of intrest though, who ran the actual course?'"
lady from horbury school called lorena who does a few courses in local libraries. as for the not using the library..there are a lot of courses run from them, this lunchtime there were about 20 people of all ages doing different courses.
anger management..adios AMIGO !
quote from the letter:-
"we are introducing self-service library kiosks along with IT facilities - with the first at Balne Lane Community Centre, opening at the beginning of the new year with further facilities coming on line soon after for West Wakefield - an improved mobile library sevice with more and longer stops, including schools, and a new reading and skills outreach programme for the local area ."
so in my opinion it is stuff the employees and stuff the people in the local area who use the library for other reasons.
on hearing information yesterday, a local builder has written offering building maintenance for free and contacted the council this morning, we will see the REAL reasons after we get the council's response !
glad i pay my council tax to leeds now, better sporting facilities, better libraries, better schools but FULL BINS !

In fairness then, what Wakefield Council choose to/not to spend their budgets on then isn't relevant to you. If anyone from Flanna or the surrounding area have a good argument, I'd rather listen to them, as a taxpayer to Wakefield Council.

| i live in the area and flanshaw library is very useful and alot of people are gutted about it closing down , especially due the local school st michael's who use the library regularly.
Referring to balne lane , Chapster this is only a reference library so the distance doesnt come into it.

Post of the century!!!
Exactly my feelings bud!
I want to nick some of that for my new sig.

In which case lets hope she's not as useless and incompetent as the rest of them.
Does that leave good old Denise in charge of the swimming pool?

That was to deliver a stadium for WMDC - i.e. Thornes.
Now make your mind up about whether she fits in with the rest!

I very much doubt it. I imagine it is used as an introduction to the library and to encourage children to join that or other libraries.

I would guess that the idea is that the kids go home and tell mum and dad or whoever that they've been to the library and about all the books they have their and encourage them all to go to the library. Also public libraries will have more books to choose from and have allsorts of other things such as book bags that have actiities based around the book that the child is reading. Surely we should be offering children as many opportunities as possible rather than restricting them to 1 book a week or so from the shool library?
You are probably missing the point because it doesn't affect you.

No they didn't I was responding to your point about the school library.
I did not suggest that you shouldn't have an opinion because it didn't affect you merely that yo were missing the point because it didn't affect you.
How much more dull can it get we're discussing libraries?!

It's no wonder the kids are as thick as mince these days if that's the attitude the teachers take. Shame on you, sir...
