But every team needs one, Wigan need one badly, a bloke with a bit of mongrel, Newton would not be at Wakefield next year had he lacked it, his game has gone downhill since he left Wigan but his style has ensured he is uncomfortable to play against and still worthy of a SL team.

| As far as Terry Newton goes; yes his game has gone off the boil in the last 2 seasons if you look how good the player has been over the last decade. But could that be in anyway down to a lack of proper coaching and leadership?
Lets see how JK and Beans can get him playing.

| Perversely, given the reviews he’s had from the West fans, I’m glad Galea has found another club. Trinity are already top heavy on the imports and anymore would be going against everything the RFL are trying to achieve. Also, if he’s gone back on his word then the club are better off without him, he was obviously coming here for the wrong reasons.

I'm sure we'd all love to see a team full of English players, better still wakey players, but we are still very much in a transition period. JK may think that to benefit the young players he has brought through, in the short term, players like Morrison, Newton and nrl players are the answer, a greater wealth of experience to draw from and pass on to them.
If we have a lot of players that could have benefited from galea's tough defence and the team benefited also then, do the Aussies call it a no brainer??

I aren't assuming he was, but it's been mentioned on here that he was, and now that he's not, it's strongly rumoured on the west's site that he may be off.
But as yet nothing official, therefor I ask the question where does it say he's signed elsewhere? Or should that be anywhere??

I don’t expect a squad full of English players, but then I don’t think Trinity should have 12 imports when the limit is 6. I fully understand the need for experience and I would also put it that the club have been let down by a few of the departing English contingent who they gave a chance to meaning the only answer at this stage are experienced antipodeans for ready made replacements.

Indeed.

A well made point. It brings it home that with 14 clubs and a premium on homegrown players, the club is in a difficult situation. As much as some people might bemoan the loss of certain players or defend them for looking after their own interests (fairly so in one sense), they shouldn't blame the club too much over this. The price of overachieving is the value of your assets increases and by most accounts we operate on a lower budget than most of the league.

The acid test will come in 2 to 3 years time.
The RFL is 20 years too late in implementing the quota shake up, personally i would have liked all clubs to honour the quota and not take advantage of the loop holes but some clubs would be in real trouble regards growth and moving forward, once these loopholes are closed the game will be in a much better condition in my opinion.

| If you think about newtons time at bradford its no wonder he hasnt played like he played for wigan. He didnt want to leave wigan in the first place,he was serving a long ban when he arrived.so the fans were against him from the start. Having said that he did ok for them ,over the 4 years he scored more tries than their scrum half.He is coming to a club he has chosen with a coach he knows and respects. He doesn't give many penaties away now but he is still intimidating to play against. He and Corky will make sure our front row will have the respect the team needs

I disagree........as a Leeds fan Baileys go forward is pretty average but he more than makes up for that with his defensive ability, positioning in the line and tackling. One of the better tacklers as a prop in SL. A vastly underated member of the Leeds squad by many.
