Quote: TRB "I can find no redeeming factors at all from last night.

Poor defence at marker and at kicks.
Poor halfback play
Poor teamwork
Poor tactics
Poor pack
Very poor goal kicking

Whilst I realise that we are trying to change the way we play, that is 2 games now where a JK coached side would have won - by controlling the ball much better.

Not impressed - need much better - fed up that I bought tickets for Hull yesterday, that performance deserves neither my time or my money! There, said it!'"

Sorry TRB but I can't agree with this. A JK coached team would not have had the nouse to get over the line even if we were camped on it - far too predictable. In addition, the fitness levels of the team would have been nowhere near what they are now cos Sanctuary would probably still have been the conditioner.

Considering some of the inept performances under JK over the years, I am surprised that after only 3 games of Agars reign with a totally new squad, someone such as yourself, who normally is fairly realistic in what you expect can draw such harsh conclusions.

Quote: GET EM ON SIDE REF "seen 15 minutes from him in 3 games yet another halfback who wont take the line on never expected a play off place this season but its 2 home games that got away Smith was poor last night'"

IMO it is going to be John's job to take on the defensive line. Smith IMO is doing a reasonable job of organising the team when we are in possession. His passing and kicking game are what he is in the side for and I repeat half our tries have been created by him.

This constant bagging of Smith in my opinion is unwarranted, certainly at this stage of the season.

I was directly in the line with the pass and no way in hell was it forward. Thaler made some shocking calls and that was one of them.

The point I was trying make is that the team need some control and that is what John was noted for. These are better players with better conditioning, but the rugby is crap because there is no platform to play off.

I do think John would have got more from the game last night, but we need more than that in the long run.

The TV replays can distort angles granted, but if the man who receives the ball is a couple of yards behind the passer and the passers hands are pointing backwards, then it is not a forward pass. I was at the game in the North stand so wasn't sure live, but watching it back on Sky I am convinced it wasn't forward in fact I would go as far to say it wasn't even close to being forward.

A previous poster is right I believe, John needs to be relieved of his kicking duties, then he can concentrate on his game

Again I can't agree the rugby is crap. IMO, we have seen more entertainment in 3 games this season than the whole of last season and probably the second half of the season before under JK. The results of the last two games could be construed as crap, because we could and probably should have won both, but this early in the new season and I am happy to see some good flowing rugby and being disappointed we haven't won all 3 games. The execution should improve as the team play more together and obviously that will enable us to convert more of the chances the way we are playing is creating.

As a neutral watching the game I thought Wakey looked quite promising and the score certainly flattered Bradford. Wakey were much the more enterprising side throughout and were just caught out through a lack of discipline in the 2nd half and a touch of naivity.

Top level rugby games are decided by small margins and unfortunately for Wakey, on this occasion they came out on the wrong side. Take away the interception try and the ref pulling Wakey back for a forward pass that wasn't and you should have had a decent lead at half time. Then the game could have had a very different outcome.

Paul Aiton has impressed me both times I've seen him on tv. Has a cracking tackling technique and runs well from dummy half. Aside from that woeful pass out wide in the 1st half he's not done much wrong.

Agree with one or two other posters that Collis looks a handful and needs to get more of the ball.

Kirmond was the standout against Bulls and your back 3 (Cockayne, Fox & Mathers) look dangerous.

Tim Smith needs to inject himself into the game more - he's got the potential, just needs to show it.

Overall there's plenty of improvement in Wakey and you could yet challenge for the 8 if the improvement comes rapidly.

Bradford on the other hand fulfilled their nickname of 'Dulls'. Fair play - if you try somert (crossfield kick) and it works you try it again but I'd hate to think I was paying full price to watch that monotonous drivel every week. Lucky for their fans they virtually gave season tickets away again this year. Its not hard to see why the Bulls have come woefully unstuck when they've come up against the top sides in the comp who can defend the kicks and don't piggy back 'em up field with penalties.

You are right that we thrown the ball about a lot more and we have more quality across the park, but this is RL not just touch and pass and you don't get anywhere if you don't do the hard work first and foremost! One without the other is just a poor result and for many years we have taken advantage of other teams doing exactly the same!

i watched his team with a load of academy players and young blokes take more or less the same bradford side to bits last season. so strictly speaking you are wrong mate

Thought we went well in the first half but didn't make enough of the ball that we had. We looked good when we got a roll on and played some really fast stuff but at times to fast and that is when mistakes were made. The second half collapse was worrying but I was encouraged by the first half and with a bit more control we would have been out of sight. Not sure what good comparisons with Kear are going to do it's just going over the same old ground and serves no purpose.
