I see your point, but I for one would at least want to know I had the opportunity to contribute and stop it happening and am sure others would do too if they could. It would also give agent xiii chance to do something positive!

Don't know where I heard this one but I think we could put £1 on the entrance fee in order to ........

Apologies for being facetious. It is a good point and there will be many who would contribute but to raise £100k + would be a huge order when many won't (not including the people who can't) pay for a season ticket to keep the squad broadly intact.

Khlav
If we could get a straight £100K for DK or better still a little bit more, I think it would make good business sense to sell him on.
In fact I believe all the deals done so far have been very good business if the figures quoted are true.
What worries the hell out of me is that there are no players being signed up. If we start to sign some decent replacements It may get some positivity back into our fanbase,

| I guess its a double edged sword for us at the minute.
We are reluctant to sell but until the debt is bridged; signing players will be bloody tricky - and for obvious reasons.
It could be argued that holding onto players is delaying the rebuild, but personaly think its the right thing to do.
Others may disagree of course but i'd prefer us to keep hold of players such as DK as long as possible - if we think that at some point we will reach the tipping point and things will be going back in our favour.
If MC did not think this was going to be the case then you could argue not selling was putting us behind the eight ball for recruiting for next season, so i am assuming this is the case; which is heartening IMO of course.

Agreed, the sooner the better. It may be even more of a reason to cheer England on this weekend if they end up playing France.

| agree with you Kinley.
it's OK saying "we can build a team around Kirmond", but keeping Kirmond means it'll be hard to make any signings.... Argh.
I thought him signing a new contract was a shrewd move to inflate his value, although this was just the Hercule Poirot coming out in me

| Shock horror, another Danny Kirmond to Salford related topic and RED LEAGUE is all over it (again) embarrassing himself and 99.999% of the rest of us Salford fans. Can you please refrain from advising Michael Carter on how to save Wakefield RLFC, he seems to be doing a very good job of it on his own. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to make the decisions he is, but it would seem (from an outsiders perspective) he is only making them in order to do the very best he can for the future of the club. I hope Wakefield aren’t required to sell Danny Kirmond, but if they are its obvious it will only be because there is no alternative. If Michael Carter was just after the cash, he would have accepted our previous two offers. Clearly he wants Danny Kirmond to stay at Wakefield just as much as the rest of the fans.
Best of luck for the near future.

| I am one of many genuine Salford fans who wish WTW the very best in difficult times. I have read the posts that Red League has put on your forum and would like to redress the balance.
I remember last year when we were in a similar position to yourselves. It's an awful feeling when the club you love is in the balance. I personally would support Salford if they were playing in the amateur leagues.
Last Christmas time I attended a meeting and came out thinking there'd be no more Salford for me or anyone else for that matter. I was distraught and after watching salford for about 40 years thought the time had come.
At the time everyone was slagging off John Wilkinson who tried for 30 years to keep our club going. Due to a number of reasons, new ground costs, the economy, his personal business declining he just about kept Salford going.
Then the good Doctor came along and we were in a better position. It was too late to do anything for this year but we had a season where our youngsters played really well. Although we finished bottom the youngsters performed admirably. It's a season I never thought we'd have but I'm sure all Salford fans preferred having a team to support.
What I'm really saying is to get behind Mr Carter because what I understand, he has personally uinvested a lot into WTW. Try and understand that some that things happen behind the scenes are for the future of WTW and we don't know all the facts.
Support your team as best you can and I hope to have many more trips over to Wakey between our two clubs.
Once againn sorry about the lack of compassion and understanding from "Red League" and all the best in your fight.
All the best.

| Thanks guys. It is nice to hear from sensible posters.
You guys are always welcome on here.
If Danny does go, please don't suggest Red League as part of the deal. He has to stay with you no matter what.

Perhaps you need to recognise that saying 'D*nny K*rm*nd' (see what I did there?) is like saying 'Beetlejuice' three times.
On a vaguely related note - and at the risk of taking this thread off topic (not necessarily a bad thing) - how has Wakefield ended up in this situation? I genuinely don't know what happened and have wanted to ask but didn't want to start a thread about it, as I can fully appreciate having Salford fans on here isn't what you want at the moment (thanks for that, Red League). Last season you seemed to be pulling in decent crowds and were on the up.
Best of luck. We know what you are going through, and most of us recognise how awful it is.
