It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"
If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

| Mamo may split opinion, I would say though if on a rumoured £150k a year he is better value than blinking Christa Ackroyd's reported £150k a year!!!!

Why, does she play for Shudds?

| Without wishing to spark this debate up again, Mamo isnt the issue here, its Huddersfield as the club. They (and their aussie coach) have decided to import a player from Australia rather than give an Englishman the chance. It isn't Mamo's fault someone rings him and says, fancy playing in the UK for (the reported) 150k a year ?
If someone rang me and said we'll pay you a $hit load of money to move abroad and do exactly the same job, I'd do it

I think Hudds/Davy have a bit of a reputation for throwing out lucrative contracts when they are not really needed, in most cases paying players a lot more than they are worth and handing out 5 year deals without any real consideration. I think Huddersfield fans recognize this more than anyone.
Nobody but the player and the club know what Mamo is payed, so the 150k is pure speculation but if that ballpark figure is true then i agree who blames Mamo for taking it? Before his injury last season, he was the inform Fullback in the comp and had that XFactor, since he has returned from his injury he has been a shadow of his former self. Rick Stone knew exactly what he was getting with Mamo.

I don't think it is - and here I think is what vasty was getting at originally before he got pilloried; it's a SL issue - we persistently import average Aussies, either at the end of their career in the NRL, or in some kind of NRL wilderness - and it's easy to suggest that blocks the progress of English players.
I think it's much worse than that though - because of the parlous state of the junior game, we don't actually have the requisite amount of young players coming through to fill those gaps - and certain clubs have a habit of hovering up the ones who do - so a significant proportion of the AAI's (average Aussie imports) are out of necessity rather than choice.

The British game, in general, can only afford average Aussies.
The top rated players wont come over here for 2 reasons, the would no longer get picked for Origin or Internationals and, more importantly, they would be taking a huge pay cut.
Therefore, we are left with players trying to re-build their careers, usually after serious injury or some kind of disciplinary issue.
However, some of your AAI's turn out to be cracking players in the British game and with the overseas players at Trinity, it's slightly disparaging to class them as AAI's.
Right now, Trinity's quota players have to be the best group we've ever had.
POund for pound, we must be doing better than the rest of SL as most other sides seem to have "imports" that you wouldn't want to pay in bottle tops.

I said I didn't rate him enough for him to be worth the money he's allegedly on.
So go on justify to me why he was worse bringing half way around the world and paying what I suspect is three times what Grix the player he replaced is on.
The issue is not how good he is but is he worth bringing so far and paying so much when there are British FB's who could do the job. How will we ever win at international level if we are depending on 29 game NRL players?
However Fickle that's not what this is about is it. You've decided for reasons best known to yourself to have a pop at me. Fine but let's not pretend it's about Momo a player a I doubt you give two stuffs about.'"
I'll go through this one at a time, then I'm finished.
I would say that you have assassinated his character, by saying he's a 'mercenary' and 'not an Aussie looking for a second chance'.
I'm sure you wouldn't like your character brought into question by a complete stranger?
Your first post never mentioned money, you only started mentioning it when jakey95 quoted a figure, which you now have knocked 20k off! (allegedly)
Whatever Shudds are paying him is their business and if they saw fit to release Grix, that's their loss and our gain. Grix wasn't the only player to fall foul of Stone, Ferguson was almost out of the door but a strong WC got him back on board.
Mamo is 23, was recovering from a serious ankle injury when he came over, which probably hastened his exit from Newcastle, as you pointed out, they were the wooden spoonists last season and probably couldn't take a gamble on him being injured again, so he comes to Enlgand looking for that 'second chance'.
In his 29 games he scored 11 tries, that's not a bad return for a player in the worse NRL team.
As for competing at International level with 'these sorts of imports', fullback isn't a problem.
The one thing that you do have right, is that I'm not particularly bothered about Mamo but like bren said, he was good last season, not this season.(so far).
I'm sorry if I have hurt that over inflated ego of yours but if you give it, you've got to take it.

In past years we have been guilty as charged in this respect, so I don't feel we should be 'calling' Huddersfield.

| For me, if Mamo is worth £150k to Giants then good luck to them.
On his form when he first arrived I'd say he was probably worth it.
On the subject of importing Aussies, surely Ben Jeffries, Korki, JD all come into the not good enough for NRL category but did an amazing job for us. It's a case by case for me. If a young kid is good enough then you don't recruit an Aussie to replace him. But as said, the issue is generating the young talents, not whether someone is taking their job.

| All about opinions, and the coach is the one who generally sets the price he is prepared to pay.
Remember the NRL reserve grader some thought not good enough for us in SL last year, picked to start this week for Canberra and getting rave reviews on NRL360 this morning, apparently has a great kicking game. Opinions.

| Williams could not make our starting team over a 35 year old slower than me halfback! now he is a starting halfback in the NRL go figure - in round 1 mind you so he isn't in there because of injures.

It's you who's having the hissy fit mixed with an over inflated ego mate not me, I'm just bemused as to how pathetic you're being.
Anyway let's hope you're finished because you've made yourself look foolish and boring. Now go have a rest.

| anyway, just laughing at broughy on the VT, proper saw his 4rs3 with that last MCB score.... ....didn't see that at the time.
a stark contrast to a few minutes earlier when he'd ripped the ball out of Grix and got a knock on from the ref.
laughing in grixy's face he was, didn't see that neither.
Scott didn't bat a eyelid, I guess he knew the game was up for Shudds anyway and, I dunno....maybe they are actually friends....to a point, professional response from Scott anyway.
I dunno who will take broughy when his contract is up, the guy is quite brilliant at times but such an utter p***k at others, sprinkle that with grubby indiscipline and dressingroom upset, you gotta know wherever he ends up he's not gonna be worth the aggravation.
