Quote: Khlav Kalash "Again, who would you have signed who was available?'"

Not a case of i would have signed, we have the so called best set of Coaches to do that , Some of the signings seem to be players who can play in so called different position not a master of one position . When I read, can play centre or 2nd row to me it means lacks speed to hold a back position down .We have brought in some players in who have moved a round from club to club ,that means not good enough to hold a position down at a club Think 5 players have come to the club injured..Just got to laugh when I read we will finish in top 6 top 8 .Remember we have 3 marque players in the squad .Just think by the look of the squad fans are expecting to much for the first season back in S L when we have just come up from the Championship As said will be happy if we are out of bottom 2 Next season is when we have got to get it right

It's important to build steadily and bring our club-developed players through.

Clubs who have just gone out and tried to buy success have invariably failed.

You win nowt with kids, but equally, you win nowt with mercenaries.

I'd love to a top6 club this season, but I'm happy to build for 3 years...

Isn't that something Leopardy Derek learned?

I don't see that at all, everyone has their preferred position but a number can play another and for one reason or another, they end up there. Most of the games great SL players have been able to play numerous positions, like Big Sam, to Sinfield, Sculthorpe, McGuire etc, to guys like Peacock and Morley, moving from 2nd row to prop. Just because teams have moved players around, that's mostly been down to injuries and squad sizes, nothing about their disadvantages as a player,. If anything it makes them more valuable.

So we've brought in TJ, McMeekan, Russell, Stourton, Trueman, Seth Nikotemo, Rourke. M Russell, Hall .
Out of those who has moved around from club to club? Most have made just one or two moves in their careers, Cam Scott has spent his whole career at Hull and is 25, Olly Russell has also spent his whole career at the Giants and is 26, Trueman has been at 2 clubs and is 26, Rourke has been at 2 clubs and is 25, Matty Stourton has been at 2 clubs but mainly at Hull KR and is 25, Seth Nikotemo is 20 and came from the Gold Coast Titans. Mike McMeekan has played at 3 teams and is 30, Tom Johnstone if you need telling has played for us and Catalans. Corey Hall, you could say has had a few teams for being 22, but he was good with us as a 19/20 year old and got behind a better player at Hull KR when he moved and now he's back. The only guy who's had plenty of teams is Matty Russell but he is 31 and coming to play backup winger, but he's got over 200 first-class games, including a stint in the NRL.
Seriously, I don't understand your point of view most of the time, even leaving opinions to one side.
Also, name the 3 Marque players please.

I know about TJ and Mike because Ste Mills mentioned them but haven't heard officially anything about Trueman, not that I remember anyway. I know people have presumed it.

It’s worth noting that although Tom will be on marquee money. He won’t actually count as a marquee signing on the cap expenditure I don’t believe.

But regardless it’s a good thing as he is worthy of that status as is Mike.

Truman I don’t believe will be marquee. I suspect Alegend has got mixed up as Truman was maquette at Hull but that doesn’t transition to marquee for us. There’s been no reference to this.

While I suspect he will be on top end salary I don’t believe he will be on marquee.

I will trust in the club and believe they have selected the pivotal players they believe can deliver what they want on the pitch.

We have recruited well imho and I can see that continuing for 2026 with forward planning.

Just to add to that I'm looking forward to seeing some of the players we recruited for last season making a big impact in Super League .

I think specifically Rodwell and Vagana could have significant seasons along with Uele , they are settled over here now and eased their way in at the lower level which is in my opinion a step forward from throwing them in straight off a plane from Australia and in to the cut and thrust of Super League .

Something I feel the Cas signings for example don't have .

Ellis has already said Tom, McMeekan and Trueman are our marquee players.

Tom counts as £50k on salary cap as he's club trained
The other two count as £100k each.
Regardless of what they are paid above that.

Thanks for that PopTart know I get shot down on here a lot ,but just think some times fans on here expect to much from the team .Was just making the point ,For what we spent disappointed with what we have got . Watched Wakefield for 70 years and I know what it takes to make a good team ,and at present to me have question marks over some of the places in the team

Mate it's a process, we've just been promoted after decades of under investment. It will take a few recruitment cycles to get a squad capable of pushing for regular play off places and beyond. I think it's you who is expecting too much too soon.

Exactly how I see it too and you can add Doyle and Walmsley having a full season full time too in Championship. They aren’t championship part time players who need to adjust to full time. The transition to SL should be much easier with a reduced level of risk for the club.

Also, Pratt is still fairly young but he’s got around 40 first grade games under his belt and entering his 3rd year full time. It’s not like throwing a young green back into the team like last year.

I can’t wait for the season to begin.

Looks like you was right about the marquee. I must not have seen the press release from Ellis about Truman. I think expecting too much would be demanding playoffs or top 4/6. That’s not what anyone is doing. I think most fans are being realistic aiming between 9-6th.

Just because we may have question marks doesn’t mean we should instantly down mark the teams potential on the pitch. Each question mark could as easily turn out to be a huge positive, clearly the club believe that the chances of this are high such as that they can re-ignite the form Truman showed where he looked like a dead cert for England only a couple of short years ago.

That's how I see it too.
There are some question marks but they are not doubts.
For me nearly all the team are good enough to play super league, the question mark is whether they'll be great super league players.

I’m thinking between 6-8 games.

I’d be a bit disappointed with 6 but fairly pleased with 8.
