| Quote: Slugger McBatt "The most gutless Wakefield side I've seen since god knows when. Don't have any enthusiasm and don't even seem to get the basic stuff right. Little effort expended. Webster is so clearly out of his depth because he can't even motivate his side to make an effort.
If we manage to survive, which we don't deserve, season tickets next year will be a disaster, because everyone will know all that matters is July onwards. No one is even being entertained for their money.'"
Totally agree. None of the basic requirements of a rugby league team are evident and considering this is the most expensive squad we have ever had, the coaching staff and the majority of the players should hang their heads in shame.

| Quote: normycat "The pack did ok. Thought Anderson showed very well for first game back. The backs were shocking. I was one of the few who spent my hard earned money last night. Most would say I'm foolish and I'm beginning to think I am. Cannot see another win unless someone is brought in to shake things up. There seems to be no spirit and that's not the Wakefield way.'"
I think that's the thing that annoys me the most about this whole situation. We have always been behind the 8 ball in terms of quality and spend compared to most (if not all) of the other teams in Superleague. We have never, ever been the worst on effort and spirit, in fact that is what has pulled us through many times and ensured we have not finished in that bottom place.
This team is seriouly lacking in that department. There seems to be a resignation when gathered under the sticks after conceding a try, that it is just the first of many. Nobody is talking, geeing the team up, they just all stand there looking forlorn and sorry for themselves. Sometimes things don't go your way boys, but you're paid to do a job, so stop feeling that it's someone elses fault, stop feeling sorry for yourselves, get back on the horse and go out there and prove that you deserve to wear our famous shirt, because right at this moment in time I'd take it off all bar about 3 players. This is our club that you're destroying, you can always go get a job at another club (although ot sure many would want you at the minute) whereas we can't go find another team to support.
Scott Anderson, Mickael Simon and Danny Washbrook are about the only ones that can hold their heads up at the minute. The rest for me just seem to be going through the motions. Have all the rest of them just accepted their fate, and decided they can do nothing to change it? If so, we need a head shrink to convince them otherwise, as actually they are the only ones who can change it. Find that Wakefield spirit and utilise it, refuse to lie down and be beaten! As a group of players they have the talent to dig themselves out of this hole, they just need to find the motivation and belief. This club has been fighting on all fronts for a long time, don't be the ones that finally let it succumb, get out there and make the fans feel that you're as proud to wear OUR shirt as we are.
Rant over!

| How many will have sorted their futures out already? They are few Trinity products in the current line up who would naturally give a stuff about the club more than it just being a job.

The anti-tamper deadline was 1st May, not that it is ever actually stuck to. So guys out of contract like McShane, Godinet, Ryan, Riley etc may well know their destinations next year. All the others who are in contract would be free agents anyway at the end of season if we go down. If we do drop then the club will lose out on a fair amount of possible cash assets in transfer fees.
In the past if it looked like we may go early we could have cashed in on one or two players to teams who were pushing in other areas or were much more likely to be playing superleague next year. Now because of the super 8's we have to hang on to those making the financial hit even harder should, as looks likely right now, go down. From a Wakey supporting point of view i am probably at my lowest ebb in all my years following them, i see no future for this club.

| I thought our pack did ok with ball in hand last night, but defensively we are so poor it is untrue. No line speed and absolutely no slide. That comes from coaching but mainly fitness. A side only has to put 2 passes, an offload or a step back in side and the gaps are just there.
We need to find the funds (try to find a taker for Sammut?) to get someone like John Kear in to oversee the whole lot (and maybe force Websters hand a little). Im not JK's biggest fan when it comes to style of rugby and junior development, but atleast he would increase the intensity and get the team working. Something that is seriously, seriously lacking.

pretty sure he would be our starting stand off under any new coach. Hall is terrible there and creates nothing and Miller's form is woeful at the moment

| The most noticeable thing for me was the kick chase, the ball was in the air for ages but the players just appeared to saunter up. No aggression, no passion, no heart.

| Watching the game last night was painful, to see how much of a mess the club is in, seemingly both on and off the field, is gut-wrenching. There has to be significant change quickly or I fear there may not be anything left to save as I believe relegation could be terminal. It looks obvious that Webster is not the man for the job, surely Mr Carter can see that? Maybe next week is last chance saloon.

| My guess is that MC knows he has to do it but will wait till after the Leigh game, hoping for a win and a good pay day for the next round, if not he'll sack JW.

A good point and one which again highlights the lack of passion and commitment. Every time KR put a ball up they had men competing for it (including one where Kelly came from about 50 yards away and still beat us to it), every time we put one up the KR player receiving it had nobody within 20 yards of him, let alone the 10 that we're allowed.

| No coach sets about any game with defeat in mind. We have a reasonable squad one that should be pushing and beating the likes of Wid,Cas, Hull, Hull KR, Salford, The points against are a massive worry, and the lack of points for pathetic. I must agree I don't see any hurt in the squad or the coach. Fire in the belly would result in the odd punch up and adisplay of team spirit. I don't see us turning the corner I hope im wrong, but wouldn't bet on it.
Wakeys always pulled something out of the bag and kept the interest going just what can be done im not sure but a re thinks required.
Options are very limited and with an owner reluctant to invest I don't see a positive ending.
Other than
Looking for a new owner
Didn't Mr C say he would sell the club for a £1 , taking on investors with an equal share, offer a share option instead of season tickets min £1,000
replace the coach but who
