The main headline on the site is currently a rather shocking and disgusting story regarding one of our former players.

| That is a vile story. I'm not sure why they chose to include 'Wildcats' in the headline though - it has absolutely no bearing on the article and serves only to link the club to a child pornography case.
As ever, our abusive relationship with the WE continues; for every positive thing they do, they seem driven to do an equal or greater amount of harm.
I remember a forum at the start of AG's tenure when Mark Bradley was a speaker; I asked the question "Why does the Wakefield Express hate Wakefield Trinity?" On this evidence, nothing much appears to have changed.

They've just changed the title for each respective paper. I don't believe this illustrates any hatred at all
Its just maximising the story, if it had 'WDH employee' rather than either of the two teams it wouldn't have the same impact.

Exactly. They know it will get people reading, which it has.
The YEP, also owned by Johnston Press, has gone for 'Ex-rugby player' as it serves whole of Yorkshire rather than the local area.

| Yuk.....disgusting man!
Quickly erases a great memory I had of an away trip at Warrington many years ago.....
Don't get the animosity towards the Express on this one? It's the way it would be reported in any walk of life.....a footballer.....soapstar......popstar......they would always point you to somewhere in their life they may have been a bit famous for......in no way putting Trinity in a bad light....
Who is going to read that and think bad of us or Cas as a club because he was a former player?
If it helps more people be drawn to the story and more people be able to identify what a vile and disgusting man he without doubt is, then I applaud the Express!

| I must be alone then in thinking that any link to a child pornography case, however tenuous, is a bad thing; I certainly wouldn't want it for my business!

Totally agree, I don't think any blame can be put on the WE this time. It's a local newspapers job to report on local news and put it into a local context. The majority of people who knew/know of Eden are probably through his career as a rugby player in the area, therefore it goes without saying that when someone in the spotlight commits a crime its reported with the samekind of publicity they originally received. Think about Stuart Hall or Jimmy Saville how much came out of the woodwork after it was reported. This is a sad connection for the clubs and fans who supported him as a player, but thats nothing compared to the victims. Its more important that a light is shone upon it and it doesn't get lost with a couple of lines hidden somewhere. It doesn't really affect either club, its a long time ago, its just tragic that someone who was once admired is not who we all thought. Shameful, dispicable and tragic, but don't shoot the messenger.
