| Quote: Khlav Kalash "To be fair material cost have come down a little, certainly from when work started on the East stand, but they will do well to get much out of the £14m beyond the main stand and all the ancillary work, especially if they have to factor in compensatory flood storage and infrastructure works to satisfy the EA objection. Digging a big hole and carting muck away costs a fair whack.'"
Indeed. The stadium developer is already on record - on the planning portal - as saying the required flood mitigations noted by the EA make the whole build undeliverable, with a drastic scaling down of the plans.
They are begging for the EA to drop their objection.

| I don't begrudge Cas a nice new ground. I hope they sort it out.
Just after ours is complete and that they don't get to dodge all the cost and bureaucracy we had to go through.

| Quote: Dunkirk Spirit "John Minards said it cost £60,000 for the removal of the asbestos found at BV during building work, but also said when spending £10 million, perhaps the sixty grand wasn’t such a major impact. I think that sixty grand would easily have paid for the rain screens at both ends of the new stand, unfortunately, I can see some unhappy comments towards the club by supporters both home and away, during the rainy day games due to lack of screens. This isn’t a moan by me, just an unfortunate chain of events.'"
Wonder if this is something Matt Ellis might do now

| I'm not overly convinced that the side screens are needed.
I wouldn't say no to having them done, but the orientation of the ground means that the bad weather (predominantly) comes directly into the stand face on - from the West.

The stand doesn't go the full length of the pitch either. I'm assuming side screens would mean those sat in the back corner wouldn't have a full view of the pitch?

| I see the EA have now removed their objection. Massive hurdle now cleared, they should get planning at the next meeting, possibly Feb, more likely March.

That's a step forward for them, but I doubt it can be heard in Feb, maybe not even March.
It has to be put on the agenda a set time in advance, to allow statutory and public feedback, though I'm not sure what that is.

| Planning permission was never a serious issue, just red tape.
Show me the money, oh, nobody can, and if anyone seriously thinks the new guy at Cas will find any of it, they need their bumps feeling.
If it ever happens, it’s at least five years off fruition and that’s being generous.

The cas fans seem to think he’s loaded his main business isn’t worth anything and has no assets to speak of as they generally trade in papermoving/signing. his current (7 figures reportedly)investment is spread over 3 years and none of it went in to last years accounts from what I’ve seen. The s106 money won’t be coming to them anytime soon unless WMDC underwrite it in lieu, which I doubt they will based on the some of the comments made on them doing that for Trinity.
Personally I don’t think it will happen

| As i understand things they are already drawing down the councils £2m to pay for temporary adjustments to the stadium in order to imrove IMG gradings. This is all well and good as a short term panic measure but in the long run a waste of money that really should go to the main development.
Secondly if Axiom are anything like Yorkcourt , good luck seeing a penny anytime soon.
Last but not least , i see they intend to spend a considerable amount on the training pitch, by up grading the playing surface and lighting. Again seems crazy doing this and not useing their limited funding on the stadium pitch.

| Unfortunately for Cas’ building costs are going up all the time and the way the world is going they are not set to fall soon, if at all!
We were actually very lucky to get what we got.
Cas’ have got a hell of a fight on their hands and I do sympathise with their genuine supporters, but they are miles behind us in afraid. I’d almost bet that our west side gets sorted out before a brick is laid at Cas’ (not talking about a quick fit bodge up!)

| Quote: Belle Vue "The article I saw was from a league express tweet.
It just came across as a bit desperate, but might have been cropped by the journalist.
The last paragraph was a bit of an odd sentence to come out with regarding delays..
Don’t know much about axiom as an outfit but I can’t see them submitting anything until they have companies signed on the dotted line to move into their warehouse’s…
Cant see them submitting plans….handing cas a lump sum telling them to crack on… while they sit on waste land waiting for companies to buy warehouses.
When it suits them though, they won’t be able to submit them fast enough.
The cost will also be a factor as prices are sky high, although I would of thought this will benefit cas also as your stadium will cost less to construct.
Could end up being a long haul but it will happen eventually.'"
Indeed, much like ourselves and Newmarket but, look how long that took (even when the units were being built).
Unless there is a magic wand somewhere, they havent a cat in hell's chance of getting anything done before the end of the season, regardless of any positive spin.
I cant see how they could gain "points" by playing at another ground ?

I think cas will probably get planning up before the committee in March…and it will likely pass…
However wether axium will have the funds in place is another matter..
And for me ca’s big problems are yet to start..
They are currently doing an upgrade/bodge up of the ground to collect the IMG points…so nothing construction wise will happen before October…
Then… IF the funding is in place they will have to move out while it’s completed.. which as prince Buster has already pointed out … the bodge up has been wasted money…
From an outsider looking in it all points to a big old mess!

| I wish I could remember the exact set of events that forced YC to cough up but I can’t. But what I do know is that it was due to a number of fortuitous events that forced YC into a corner.
Up until that point we were never going to see a penny, because we’d have gone out of business before it would have happened.
Same will have to happen for Cas for them to get the cash. The chances of that happening in the next five years are remote imho. It was remote for us but we got lucky.

| The major turning points for me were Box leaving the council and the fact Yorkcourt had developed all the land at Newmarket other than the stadium site. That bit was 35 acres and they wanted that too for warehousing instead of building a stadium. With Box out of the way , the council at least had a bit of leverage on Yorkcourt to make them pay up if they wanted to develop the stadium site. We got something but we were short changed in all fairness.
Another point is that our development did not stop us continuing to play at Belle Vue. It will be impossible for Cas to remain at their ground so they will need at least one season on the road.
