Quote: jonh "First time I have seen the highlights. Couple of things that stood out for me. Miller gobbing off all the way down the line at MacIntosh and at one point showing him for the TJ break leading to the try. If he had focussed on supporting TJ we may not have needed the extra PTB to be fair he did well to spot the space on the blind side with the ball ending up in Hall's hand. The way the game is at the moment he left himself open to the ref giving a penalty against him for interfering with the defender.

The Lineham defensive effort in the build up to the Gale try is one of the worst I have seen, really really poor. Thought it was bad on the day but it is worse on film.

The Tanginoa miss wasn't as bad as I gave him stick for. He probably should have done better but Battye is slow to get across and Ashurst who is at second maker just seems to vanish into thin air rather than covering the space exposed by Battye over and getting it wrong from first marker.

It's all small margins (apart from the shocker by Lineham) but it is small margins which are the difference between winning and losing as Sunday highlights.'"

I'm not really sure what Miller's issue was. Something clearly upset him.

I did not go to the game so I am just generalising that we do have a trend of not winning close games like Sunday. I wonder how many at the game actually thought that we would win when they were down to twelve men.

We never looked particularly threatening from close in yet spurned 4 or 5 penalty kicks and lost by 4. I can't get my head round that.

The opportunity to win was in the first half. We dominated for long stretches with silly mistakes giving it back to them.
When they were down to 12 we lost Gaskill so didn't really give us an advantage.

Refreshing to hear a so-called sports pundit talking quite sensibly about the weekend's matches on last night's "Superleague Show". I'm referring to Alex Walmsley. He spoke intelligently and with knowledge without resorting to the usual cliches. At the end of his review of the Trinity v Hull game he said that; "They would be there or thereabouts at the end of the season", but I couldn't make out whether he was on about us or them.

Thought he was good on it tbh.
He was on about us - he also said that we'd be "competitive."

Just watched the game which I enjoyed very much ... we could well have come out of that with two points...
three comments though

1) our edge forwards had no penetration at all
2) having no interchange with 12 minutes left in the game is really poor
3) if one player needs a rocket up their it Kelepi Tanginoa.. didn’t have the ball in his hands for the whole time he was on the pitch in the first half... during that time Battye was chasing around looking for carries... Batchelor was involved in everything but Tanginoa kept sliding one or two players away from the potential carry... by the time he left the field his contribution had been negligible

And when the opposition are tired and we are one score from winning the game in the last 10 we should be able to introduce our most destructive runner ... see point 2

Oh and d) was there an invisible Trinity player on the pitch that Jowitt used as an obstruction... seemed to me it was a Hull player he doubled back behind to find the gap!

Did you see the Batchelor no try? What happened there.

Spot on. Kalepi had the cleanest kit on the pitch. Honestly not sure why he didn’t seem to get stuck in.

The Jowitt where he wrong footed the Hull players was a strange decision from ref. Nobody in the stands had a clue what he’d blown for. There was no obstruction and it was just great footwork.

Batchelor was excellent along with Dave in middle. Batch should start next week for me.

Crowther was great in defence but really needs to find a pair of hands sometimes. I’m all for giving him a bit of time to find his feet at 13 but couldn’t help think Walker would have been handy when we were camped on the Hull line with some of his deft kicks and good hands.

Overall though, that was a very close game and there’s plenty of positives to take from that.

He knocked on... and he knew it...

Watched the game again and thought Arona was probably the most consistent and had biggest effort and Battye, when he started offloading had a greater effect.

I agree that sort of game management needs to be reviewed.

I also agree with previous posters that there was a lack of penetration from both starting back rowers.

It would be good to see Batchelor start alongside Tanginoa in the back row against Catalans with Whitbread starting at prop with Fifita…
