Absolute nonsense.
Why don’t you tell them that ?'"
I don't think anyone on this thread had said that, more to do with the council and developer trying to get out of what they promised.
For me, I'd be happy with a redeveloped Belle Vue along the lines of what Vastman has talked about. In an ideal world I'd like BV flattened and built again but I don't think we will get that.

| One of the arguments at the time re green belt was that it was about to be taken out of green belt anyway. Further, if anyone is seriously arguing that Wakefield has been deprived of some meadow due to Yorkcourt's chicanery has lost the plot. It was an old field on the site of a former colliery by the M62.
Also, if anyone really believes that what was wanted was a community facility above else, again they are fooling themselves. Newmarket would have had no support at all if they had said we will build a community sports facility but Trinity can't play there.
It was what we always knew it was: a Wakefield stadium on a bit of scrap-land by the motorway, and the community element merely strengthened the argument. To suggest that anyone who achieves a Wakefield stadium fit for Super League is somehow complicit in Yorkcourt's chicanery is talking nonsense. Yorkcourt's chicanery is one thing. We want a stadium. If there is a way to get one, get one. Yorkcourt's conduct can be a matter for a different fight on a different day.
What would be madness would be to say that we should force Yorkcourt to comply and everything else should be sidelined.

| We have to be realistic, the longer it plays out the worse it becomes. Granted we were promised a shiny new stadium however to secure the future of the club & place a in Super League some middle ground has to be met.
No doubt MC & Co. will make the best decision in regards to the above so lets leave it down to them.
All we can do is continue to support the team get down to Belle Vue.

As I remember it, the old colliery was brown belt land and that comprises of some of the Newmarket development and they also needed some of the farmer's fields that were the green belt bit that was taken out. Some of it was fairly unkept land, particularly where they've built the Coldstore, but not all of it is like that up there. I still ride there regularly and used to use the old pit to get from Moorhouse up towards Methley.

| The last time it was spoke about settling for a revamped Belle Vue or another site it wasn't viable and the Council/Yorkcourt probably knew this. Don't fall for anymore stalling tactics and red herrings, Newmarket already has plans drawn up and approved....they want us to get desperate and settle for anything and are continuing playing the long game while they push more planning apps through at Newmarket. Also who cares if the land at Newmarket was unkept, Yorkcourt agreed to deliver a stadium in the return for the very valuable chunk of land they've received at the expense of the tax payer, the fact the council keep pointing us to other sites despite this shows where their allegiances lie. If I were to bet, I still don't think this will get settled without going to court.

Detailed plans for the stadium were never submitted let alone approved. It would be just as quick to get detailed plans drawn up for BV. We can hold out for NM if we want, but in the cold hard reality of life we would be waiting forever. The club can't afford this even if the threat of SL expulsion was dangling over our heads.
As an aside I think the app for the new Henry Boot job being heard today or next week. It could be a pivotal week.

Could have sworn I saw some technical cad plans for the stadium posted on the planning portal for Newmarket years ago, but I could be wrong!

You did.
The stadium at Newmarket has a full planning consent and was approved on 26th June 2013 (13/00766/REM)

I thought they resubmitted when it ran out because I posted some images of the ground still on the application on here, next to the Newcold building. I've still got them tbh.

Probably June 2018 as consents are generally for 5 years.

| Reading some of the earlier comments in this thread, regarding the possibility of the club buying the stadium back.
I did hear a while back from someone who works with 88m group, within the property investment sector, that Manni is losing his interest in the land, so this could be a possibility, though would think if he was selling it on, it would be to make a profit.
