| Quote: Big lads mate "Toms try was probably the best try I've seen at BV and maybe in a Trin shirt, but, watching York at Rochdale I witnessed probably the best try outside SL by Yorks FB Delaney? Must have rounded most of the opposition to score, if there's somewhere that this can be viewed it's a must see.'"
York seem to be producing some good players at the moment.
Is this why Jordan has gone there?

If Chester keeps doing what he's doing and keeps playing local lads who are up to it. You don't need big names, just passionate players who connect with the fans and I think Chester knows this.

I think it's because of James Ford the York coach and the BS regime, but I must say they remind me of the present Trin side, playing with passion a for each other plus plenty of game time for Jordan. I'd like to see how they'll fare against Dewsbury in the CC, but I'll be at Wakeys game. Fordy's got a good side I believe will be in the championship next season.

I think the opposite; it definitely will be to his benefit to not get swept up with the hype that's surrounded him after 3 good performances over Easter, and to stay with a club that can tolerate his inevitable ups and downs as a young, developing player. If he goes to one of the perceived 'big' clubs, firstly he'll be behind proven internationals in his position, and when he does get a game, the expectation will be huge - enough to destroy a young lads confidence.
I've no doubt that he'll go on to bigger and better things, but doing it now would, in my view, be a mistake; just hope he doesn't have a greedy agent who sees only the short term and doesn't really care about his welfare.

The 'benefit', is if he can fulfill his international dream whilst still at our club.
Hopefully Wayne Bennett will bring some, 'not what club you play for' sense to the England set up, to help strengthen our game through all the clubs

| I'm pressed with his physic, for a young lad of his age he shows good balance and strength, he is also show a maturity above his age and comes across as a level headed lad in the interview,
who would of thought we could produce these players time and time again with our troubles at the club, look where Pitts and Ferguson are now when they took the leap to the next level, you might be right Bren but sometimes you have to take a punt and push your self or you might regret you didn't

I get that - but the timing of that punt is critical; do it before you're ready, end up totally out of your comfort zone and away from the people and culture that gave you confidence, and you might regret that you did.
I'd never advocate holding a young player back, but he's very, very young and at the very start of his career; anyone advising him to do anything other than continue to learn and develop at his home club is, in my view, giving him very bad advice.

| I can see what you are saying Bren, say he goes to wigan and has a drop of form, he may be loaned out to a championship club and could end up as a permanent move. We are move likely to stick with him

| It does frustrate me as someone who wants to see clubs keep their talent/potential talent when all the fans of cashed up clubs are saying, we should sign Johnstone from Wakey.
I've seen it on a few boards now, just leave the lad be for a couple of seasons at least, see how he goes; and let Wakefield enjoy the fruits of their labour.

| All wakefield suffering fans want to see is a successful club as in the sixties and the way to reach this is by keeping your best young talent not as we have repeatedly done in the past selling them on. As for the young players themselves, they will reap the rewards because we would be one of those top successful clubs paying top contracts through the extra income we receive from increased ticket sales and sponsorship.
However from the owners perspective they will be looking at recouping the money they have put into the club by re-mortgaging their houses which means they will be looking at the balance sheet and the best assets which are the best young players. I believe that MC saw the real potential of Tom Johnson way back and moved in quickly to tie him down to a 4 year contract knowing this would increase his monetary value when the big clubs come sniffing round.

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"
If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

I would hope that the fact that we have already knocked back approaches for Tom Johnstone from Wigan, that it is because Mr Carter realises the value of that player to his club. Not in terms of what we can get for him now by selling him on, but by what he would lose in revenue from Club 1873 and supporters coming through the doors if we were seen to be selling the family silver (again).
