| I think that's how most of us feel, I'm very angry at the moment but more so I feel let down.

| Yep. Let down here too.
A little deflated. I thought we were going to build a good club under Smith.

| I don't understand what is happening here we just seem to stumble from one cock-up to the next.
All Iwant from my club is for it to stop shooting itself in the foot and give us,the fans, something to be proud of.

| I think there's been a massive overreaction on here. At first I felt the same negativity. HOWEVER:
1) Was Brian Smith all that? Two super league victories in god knows how many games.
2) We have improved because we have a better squad. We didn't have Arona, Tupou, England, bjb last season. The squad has got stronger.
3) Results have improved and in spite of the horrendous 30 mins against catalan, players were clearly trying (and showed that they are capable until scruton comes on and s it all up but that's a different matter).
4) Why won't we be able to attract an up and coming manager? We have a competitive squad and it will get better as the season goes on. For people like Rowley (who I don't really like) or Kear or Morrison - these gigs could be their only time to get a shot at a Super League club. A super league club with one win in the bank (could easily have been 2 out of 4).
My word, I know we're a dramatic bunch but some of the responses have been outrageous.
I'm sure the truth will come out. People talk. Which means those people who have sons and relatives playing in the team will know what has gone on (hint).

| Let's not lose sight of it being Brian Smith that's chosen to walk rather than see the job through. He's had money to spend and has retained, resigned and recruited as he saw fit, many of us were puzzled by his obsession with back rowers when we obviously needed a half and a centre. Here we are 5 games in and guess what, we are desperately short of a half and a centre!
Why hasn't Tony Smith allowed Declan Patton to join us on loan, why did we miss out on Gareth O'Brien, Theo Fages on loan, Martin Ridyard when he looked surplus to Leigh's requirements? Brian Smith was convinced that we were OK with Finn and Miller so didn't prioritise the half back position and it was he who had the say on signings.
Other than upping our Salary Cap spend, MC hasn't had anything to do with building the squad, it's all been BS!

| I'm reading on here absolute rubish, carter ,kirmand, Scruton and Ben jones bishop hero worshipped by fans there high payed players and what ever our chairman pays himself I said a long time ago Mr carter tells lies, kirmand and Scruton are soft forwards particular Scruton but we make them captain and vice captain and I'm sure I said jones bishop can't catch high balls and is always out of position but yet tounges are out.Comon lads get realistic if we take cheap option Dickens, Gilmore, or chester then jobs over and don't think championship will be a walk in the park may be semi pros but these guys are hard lads and plenty of bottle which we lack I'm sure you'll agree

| Here is my 2p worth.....
Signing BS was a big deal for us. He brought extra media attention and experience that cannot be denied. He is also a builder of clubs. IIRC he spent about 3 years each at Hull and Bradford before leaving, and straight after he left, both clubs won something (under the coaching of the assistant from the previous 3 years)
He needed time to build. if we finished bottom but this time easily won every game in the middle 8's then that would be an improvement while he got the type of players he wanted.
He also needed resources. These are not available at Wakefield, so it is hard to build when you have nothing to build with.
The players do not seem interested. If BS was making them train every day, they probably did not like it or were so unprofessional to see that it would benefit them down the line. Obviously sitting in Costa is easier than training. i am sure you get my point.
so where from here....
We are getting nearer and nearer to relegation, and we don't bring much to the superleague party. I feel our 9 lives are running out.
As for the usual candidates..
Forget John Kear - many wanted rid of him as his tactics were 1 dimensional (big forwards and a skillful halfback)
Glenn Morrison would be fool to come (but would lift the club).
Poaching? Goulding? etc. all untried and untested in what is probably the hardest coaching job in RL - Poor players and no cash to resolve it.
The new coach must be string in character, bring back some fun into the players so they enjoy playing and what to play. I can watch a team that tries and loses. i cannot watch a team that doesn't try.
Personally i would like to see Geoff Toovey, but that won't happen.
Whoever takes the job appears destined to fail.

Don't know how long you've followed Trinity for but, based on our past record of appointing a head coach, what chance do we have of persuading a top coach, who just happens to be looking for work, to come and take the reins at Belle Vue.
Most people didn't want Agar here but, he is far from the worst we've had in the last 30 years and we're not exactly in rude health at the moment.
Smith worked miracles to keep us in SL last year and the club coped supremely well with the Smith/Locke incident, which looked like it had done enough to get us relegated.
The question is, of those people that are available (and be realistic), who would you like to take charge and then consider how they are likely to fare with the squad that we have, assuming of course there isn't a few £million hidden in a cupboard somewhere.
Do you think Chester or someone of his ilk will be better than Smith. Even Morrison (assuming he is available) would struggle to advance the club.

Followed since I am old enough to remember and I'm 25 now so possibly a good 15 years at a stretch.
I didn't say a top coach. Right a team with B. Tupou, A.Tupou, Arona, England, Johnstone, BJB, Simon, Annakin - you're telling me any coach from the championship wouldn't want to coach these players?
I wouldn't want Chester and I'm not saying they can do better than Smith but I think some on here are really overrating Smith. Coaches don't always do well at certain clubs. Just because Smith did well at clubs with resources doesn't mean he would do well at Wakefield. Why would any coach stay at Batley/Dewsbury over a Super League club with the above players.
Smith didn't work miracles. He won a one off game against a team in a lower division. I don't think Smith did a particularly 'bad' job per say, but the reaction that people are having on here you'd think we wouldn't have only won 3 games all season last year (1 under smith, 2 under webster) against super league opposition.

| I just look at it like BS was due to come here and keep us up last year. He's achieved that, wasnt meant to even be here this year.
The fact we had him until now is a bonus. What we need is a youngish, hungry coach. I believe we have the players to compete.

| Those that wish to gloat should remember that what they wish for may not happen. If we are just looking for a yes man then expect recruitment from within.
It is a sad day made worse by some of you suggesting Chester for heaven sake and Rowley who when it came to the crunch could only finish bottom of the middle eights. All the rest are under contract and we won't pay compensation to their clubs.
If you were a coach with a good reputation would you come to us, we are now looking for our fourth coach during our chairman's short reign"

| Don't want to start rumors but a friend who's pally with one of the players told me a few weeks back that Kirmo doesn't show up to training when he can't be d. Don't know how true it is, but certainly not the attitude we need especially from our captain.

| I think more gutted than let down as we believed in smith and I like many wanted to see him succeed and turn our fortunes, I saw enough again Widnes HKR Warrington second half v Catalan to see improvement. However I think he wasn't expecting the poor performance of at least 5-6 of his senior players which he was banking on to perform with his 5 new signings which would have gave us a fighting chance. Reality has hit home that we will be able to compete week in week out but without players putting in a shift competing is all we will do and actually win we will not.
The successor has dramas of taking over a lot of deadwood, hasn't got time to bring in his ideas, probably can't bring in new signings after a fair pre season this is worse timing , I can't see how we can recover from this,,, gutted
