Quote: TRB "Michael And Chris are both very aware that the club needs to be in Wakefield but, as for playing a dangerous game, that started around 10 years ago and there will be risk in every decision taken, but they still have to be taken.
Yes, some fans will not be comfortable with the outcome - whatever that is - but the Trust is committed to a new stadium at Newmarket and is working hard towards that goal. We are still 'negotiating' and now we are at the end of the holiday period we hope to publish our position very shortly.
As for the question of where we play whilst we wait, that is for the club alone to decide and, whilst I have an opinion, it is not my call and I will understand whatever the decision is!'"

Good work as always,

It would seem that SRW is favouring a redevelopment of Belle Vue over a move to Newmarket?

Will this be a reply or just like the rest a method to kick the discussion into the long grass until the season is over. I believe it as become rather political with Carter and the less than helpful conservative MP against the Labour run council.
I hope I am wrong because the only loser will be Wakefield Trinity and we the supporters.

Rodney Walker is flip-flopping like a politician at the moment - it appears that he's either not in the loop and is reacting to things without full knowledge, or he has aligned himself with YCP's position, which appears to be at odds with the club and the Trust.

Bizarre.

Scarlet Pimp where do you get your description of `less than helpful conservative MP ` from. She has done more work for Newmarket in the few weeks she has been in office than all the previous Wakefield area MPs have done in the last 10 years. You are so far of the mark with that statement that I think its just political bile, Labour good Cons bad no matter what. Speak to the SWAG people, Trust members etc ie the people working to get us to Newmarket and they will tell you that Andrea Jenkins has been a breath of fresh air, not a political point just that she is not afraid of upsetting the local Labour run council who obviously have an agenda to stop is ever getting to Newmarket.

Maybe, like me, he has seen nothing from her in writing anywhere, championing the Newmarket cause. Having said that, the only way we get to know anything is by snippets of information on here.
I'm sure many are working hard behind the scenes towards a stadium.
Personally, I don't know why in this day of 'openness and honesty', the whole business is shrouded in secrecy and worse still I'm beginning to not care!

Great point bellycouldtackle. As a former Wakefield resident I am pleasantly surprised to hear of Conservative MPs in the Wakefield area.

It was very interesting reading these forums in the build up to the election and the staunch political views held by many. There is little doubt the mining connections run deep in the community and the 1980s seem to crop up as a discussion point every election time. Even though that is now generational history and the landscape has changed so much since then.

Sadly, these views, rightly or wrongly, blind some people into not assessing a public figure in a fair and balanced way. I have my own strongly held political views but I will still try to assess someone for what they are. For example Corbyn has been pillared in the media and seems to be a doomsday scenario. I personally don't go for his policies yet whenever I've heard him speak I get the impression he is a man of true integrity and conviction, unlike some others.

Whilst I'd never vote for Corbyn I do think he'd do what he genuinely believes is right for the people and the country. And not be influenced by lobbies which are too powerful or lining his retirement career.

If the new MP is doing good work for Trinity then let's acknowledge it through recognition of her efforts, not criticise by being blinded by party lines and not give her a chance.

I'm sure you're right in some of the things you say but come on, IDS, Grove, Osborne and Cameron in particular are like the Nazi SS.

Their policies are the most blatanty ideologically driven agenda set that I've ever seen.

Osbornes doubled the deficit
Duncan-Smith has the blood of 4,000 people on his hands
Grove has destroyed sports participation which in turn will cripple the NHS in the not too distant future

And while I'm mentioning the NHS, don't get me started

Well said wildshot, I do not care which party an MP is from as long as they are going to fight the good cause of getting Newmarket Stadium built. All I can say that Ed Balls and his Mrs did zero to help when asked, they sat on the fence and followed the Peter Box and Wakefield Council Line. I don`t want to criticize Mary Creag as she is tidy. ( but again she did nothing but in a nice way ) . This new MP Andrea Jenkins is approachable and is working hard to help us. This is not a party political point. Its just a fact.

Can you keep your word and not get started then please.
Calling someone a Nazi and saying what you say about IDS are too strong, especially for a forum about rugby.

National issues, the local MP is prepared to fight our corner on the stadium issue then this is a good thing because Mr Balls wouldn't. He knocked on my door in March canvassing and tried to sidestep talking about the stadium. Couldn't have a given two hoots about any local issues I tried to engage him on. In fact all he really wanted to talk to me about was immigration.

Jenkins motives? Who knows - more voters onside? Undermining a safe Labour council to further her Westminster career? Most probably the latter.

IDS tried to suppress information on how many people (not scroungers) died after being put on benefit sanctions. He has blood on his conscience (assuming he has one) for setting seriously ill people to work, only for them to die shortly after. His department is under scrutiny by the UN for discriminating against disabled people.

He is one of those people who feels that they are better than the rest, that he knows better than the rest and that he is entitled to tell the rest how they should live.

Stick up for him if you want, but he's the worst kind of Tory, the kind who hides his complete lack of compassion or empathy beneath a very thin veneer of humanity.

As for the lady MP who took Ed Balls job, she has shown herself to be a committed Representative for her community and I wish their were more like her in all parties.

My point was about people's political views blinding them to see what someone may or may not be doing about one specific issue we are all interested in on this board, that being WTW.

We can talk all day about the rights and wrongs of all the political parties (they all have faults) if you want, but this is not the forum for it.

I'm not a moderator but I'm interested in what influential people can do for our great club, so can we please stay on topic?

Thank you.

I would stop following WTW if they needed to rely on somebody whose views or actions I find so abhorrent, it's a matter of conscience.
