I would suggest that the best option for you is to go back to the 1940's, since you'd be hard pressed to find any pro sport that operates in such a way in the modern era; players are a commodity and like any other, the highest concentration of them will be owned by those with the means to buy them.

Sad but true - sport is a business now and with a short career, players will do whatever they can to maximise their income; can't blame 'em, I'd do the same.

Well nobody is forcing you to support them are they?
Unfortunately Wakefield arent in your idyllic world that you crave,so youve got two choices, support what we have/recruit or dont.
We all have to make sacrifices in life, maybe you just might want to sacrifce some of your principals for the greater good.

I must admit I have never thought of that phrase as derogatory but as it clearly offends, lets not use it now.
I guess name calling is name calling no matter what name it is.

I am interested to know who you currently see as "ours".
Do you mean you don't like people coming in on loan and then leaving again when it suits them or do you mean you are only supporting home grown players?

Any chance of going back on topic of 'Player Rumours'?

Any update on Mark Mexico and others being signed? We desperately need an experienced scrum half....

IMHO we need at least 4 props in the squad as we usually have 2 interchange props on the bench with a second row and hooker/ utility player.

By my reckoning we have only 3 props (Moore, Raleigh and Dan Smith) unless Shulver is ready for the step up and we can't afford Mark Mexico/Mark Offerdahl?

Yorkshire Post today......

The Yorkshire Evening Post understands Wakefield are keen to sign McShane, who is also believed to have options in Australia. Wildcats yesterday signed Moore, who was a free agent after being released by Leeds earlier this month, on a one-year deal.

They are also looking to take several Rhinos fringe players on long-term loan for 2014. German international Jimmy Keinhorst, who has retained his No 22 jersey and recently signed a new long-term Leeds contract, is among the players interesting Wildcats. Do we need another centre or winger? Lynne can play there. Experienced scrum half on the cheap please!

Scrum half desperatly needed, after that McShane would be great addition, him and Moore would certainly mix it up a bit in the pack. Would be nice to have the luxury of another prop who could break a tackle. Moore, Raleigh and Smith could be joined by Tautai, he's down as a prop on the clubs website. I'm not sure we've found his best position yet but we do have more cover in the back row if needs must.
In the backs we need another winger with Lynn on one and Fox on the other, certainly need another option, defensively a weakness. Keinhorst on loan, not sure? Like the on loan option if the player needs game time and is a decent prospect.

icon_biggrin.gifOH: Forgot about Tautai. We'll probably be ok with him off the bench for impact with Dan Smith and maybe starting with Moore and Raleigh at 8 & 10? There is then hopefully a development opportunity for Shulver during the season.

Focus should be fully on a scrum half, hooker and maybe get Keinhorst to cover wing/centre on a 6 month deal? Things will look pretty good then? Looking forward to the Boxing Day match ....

This is the issue with relegation. In our situation last season we could have said to BG, go on lad have a go without fear of losing our SL place, therefore helping him develop. Now we can't. Very short termism getting rid of franchises.

sadly no... thats why clubs have attempted to find an alternative berth for his undoubted talent... I have seen him play in many many games live and the majority of his starts have been on the wing.

Think Tautai wants a run in the 2nd row do will be impact for when Ali comes off. Need another prop. 1 starting half and 1 for cover, hooker, Couple of utilities and we should be set.

Personally TT at loose yes he is knock on prone but its because hes to eager to get quick play of ball or an offload if he calms if down he will be a good player as he has pace and good core strength.
1 more prop, a scrum half and an outside back
and I think we will be OK. Just hope we dont get injury rattled.
