It seems to me agar is relying on some off the cuff stuff to get us enough points to win games. The team seem incapable of earning territory and building pressure through good honest hard work.
Defence is atrocious and shows no sign of improving and the fight seems to have gone out of the team cos when the going gets tough too many if em go missing'"
That's about right for me

| Hmmm just watched the game in Eurosport... Clearly the team were not prepared for the physical battle in the first 20. There was no intensity for the whole game in line ... Nothing like the effort required in driving the ball, and supporting the ball carrier.
Today was the version of Tim Smith which was on show weekly in Australia. I hope he gets his confidence back!
The team lacked direction and purpose in the face of a real battling and focussed show from Cas.

Disagree bens our mate but his positional play was shocking today, in fact his whole game was and he wasn't any better last week. Been one of our top performers this season so hopefully it's just a blip in form

| Cockayne currently reminds me very much of Gareth Morton. Poor positioning, too slow to get across, too small to do anything if he does get across, regular loss of ball during collisions, poor under high ball, kicking dead from the restart etc etc.
He has got better tats though and a few more palls on the terraces to help cover his frailties.

| While I agree that we were terrible and big changes are required, I don't think anyone is being fair to Cas here. They (Chase especially) played very well, were clearly up for it and want that 8th spot. They passed it around and tried things while we just fell back to the old one pass and run it straight back into the last tackle rugby that is boring, clearly doesn't get points on the board and won't help sell season tickets for next year (anyone still think we are being undercharged for the quality of entertainment this season???)

| Totally disagree, I rate Cockayne he has that 'spark' and can find gaps, Morton was dire!

Despite still thinking it was right to let Kear go, he knew how to get the team up for a game, I'm not sure Agar can do this.

9. Paul AITON worked is balls off
10. Andy RALEIGH solid
11. Ali LAUITIITI lol
12. Danny KIRMOND (c) worked is socks off
13. Danny WASHBROOK solid but not the old Dannt.
15. Kyle AMOR best prop, kept poking though.
20. Reece LYNE Lol lol lol
27. Chris ANNAKIN did not take abackward step
32. Taulima TAUTAI flashes of quallity and a few silly pens.

Mathers - alright, didn't do anything good but didn't do anything bad either
Fox - Jesus Christ can't tackle for crap and was scared at the sight of the fat plodder opposite him
Collis - motm contender
Lyne - clearly needs to go out on DR
Cockayne - to let An average winger in Dixon in 4 times is a disgrace
Lee Smith - clearly not a 6, either at fullback with Mathers at 6 or in the centres with Goulding at 6
Tim Smith - tbh saw him limping before the match but still a very dire performance
Justin Poore - a SOO player my ars3
Paul Aiton - another poor performance
Andy Raliegh - a shadow of the player last year
Ali Lauitiiti - ineffective today
Danny Kirmond - one of the only few who appeared to be bothered
Danny Washbrook - agree with NGB4C he needs to be dropped Cas played an extra prop at LF Washbrook does nothing in attack
taulima tautai - his debut one of the few positives - his brushing of Chase was a joy to see
Kyle trout - gave 100%
Chris Annakin - likewise
Kyle Amor - agar should've started him with Wilkes on the bench IMO

| Reading through this threat, Im probably going to get pelters of some posters for saying this but I don't think Agar needs to go. Our coaching team has an attacking bias, which you can only get so much out of without a quality stand off! Im not sure Sykes is the answer but he's arguably the best we've got in that position and we've certainly not been able to cover his absence. I think Agar needs to go find a class stand off.
Secondly, I think Agar needs to go and sign a defensive coach. An expert, someone who can come in and tighten the defence up. If we can stop teams scoring we've half a chance of winning.
If those two areas are addressed, Im sure there would be a huge improvement across all areas of the team.

| Never wanted Agar he was never and never will be a SL head coach he is a decent assistant or Championship coach
If your face does not fit you have no chance with him Ellis being an example frozen out all last season before the one trick pony (defence) Aiton got injured
We then go on a run of wins
The fact is we only have Tim Smith we have no attacking options at 6 9 and 13 and that is down to Agar
Sykes can fill a gap at 6 but hes a fullback for my money he should have released Mathers Wildie John and Aiton and kept Ellis and Wood 9 moved Sykes to FB and signed a decent stand off
For some reason supporters love Aiton he does nothing for me that a good hooker should and it is no shock he did not make the exiles squad
Agar has got to go but who replaces him for my money we missed the boat with Powell a good coach who was out of SL for far too long

| Agars the coach and the attacking and defensive structures are his take on things and how the side should play. The poor defending and weakness in doing so was there for all to see last season and now the other coaches have twigged where we are seriously weak. When it showed you the changing room at half time Agar looked like he could not care less.We need a quality stand off thats for sure but that wont change the fact our defense is dire at times.I dont think he will bring a defensive coach in to be honest as if he could have seen the defensive weakness last season he would have one in already and if he could not see it last season then there is no hope.

Agree with all of this Kirmond, Collis and Tautai played well. Aiton looked exhausted. The rest were poor. Poore is not the player I thought he was.

Agar should already have a defence coach, him or Webster? It was a shambles across the field with a complete lack of composure or structure that's down to Agar and Webster. Can't afford to keep spending on players/ coaches. Defence structure is a key area not a stand off one player doesn't make a team. Sykes is ok for us when fit but even if he was playing well yesterday we had that many holes we were like a cullinder!

Can't be bothered digging out any more comments like this, but "defensive structures" seem to be a bit of a buzzword at the moment. Seems to be fairly trendy to blame the coach and not the players. Agar has lots to be held accountable for, but I need one of the more knowledgeable posters to point out to me what "defensive structure" would have stopped 2 tries from acting half back, a couple of tries by players not even attempting tackles and the massive territory we lost through Carney stepping/swerving round Collis and Fox in the first half, not competing for the ball in the air, us having no go forward because of our softcock pack, poor distribution from Aiton and his insistance to basically stand and pass almost every PTB.

Lack of structure in defense is not the same as individual errors in defense and loosing the collision - the coach cannot make the players during the 80mins make the tackles, or indeed bend their backs like we saw rovers do in the game afterwards.
These are paid proffesionals, some of them earning many times what posters on here and fans on the terrace earn and they have an obligation to do their best for the club, the fans and themselves. The coach ultimately carries the can for results, but it is unfair to lay the blame for yesterdays debacle exclusively at his feet, if you went to work on monday and put in as much effort as the overwhelming majority of our side has in the last 120 mins of rugby then it would be you answering the questions and having to justify yourselve rather than your manager.
Grown men should be accountable - yes Agar has many things to be taken to ask for, selection and recruitment/retainment policy being the 2 main aspects but the players need to look at themselves.
Any Trinity player worth his salt should not need any coaching at all to enduce him to perform against Cas, playing against our nearest and dearest for bragging rights knowing what it means should be enough.
