If he did have a chance to join Souths, it was probably only as a stop-gap to shore up their injury problems; perhaps he sees half a season here as a chance to reignite his career and earn himself a more permanent (and lucrative) berth somewhere for next season and onwards?

Let's not foget, this lad hardly troubled the Dogs starting 17 last season and has been in the wilderness for a year or so, so he's got something to prove.
