Quote: Shifty Cat "All trinity fans can do is hope that some way the Newmarket Stadium can get done, hopefully with WMDC backing but if not without them. But all we can do is guess what will happen until there is more information either from Trinity or the Council, until then everyone is going to be going round in circles.'"

Most sensible thing i've read on this board for weeks, we are just mushrooms.

As for the funding apparently a chinese company have now bought the hicksons site and are removing the chemical licence which is the only thing that has been stopping the sale of WR. Chinese whispers eh? Reliable as ever.

The overwhelming view of both polls is that we go to Newmarket.
I know this is not a scientific study carried out by p07034096eople with clipboards but it's still a sizeable majority.
I'll say it again, if we can(and the people at York Court, comm trust etc are all still backing it) then we should push on with Newmarket, we should suggest that if the council can't back both they should back neither, or split what money there is!
I firmly believe that glasshoughton cannot go ahead/as they hope, without us being involved and that is the view of the councillors interested.
I said in a post earlier on that the council would hide behind economic excuses long before this latest setback and they have, what we must do is continue to push on and highlight where ever there are leanings to one club or the other.
What we also need and I'm getting fed up of repeating this, is a strong statement of intent from our people, otherwise it looks like we're dead in the water at a time when a bit of front is needed.

They (Community Trust, WTRLFC & SWAG) have already have made a strong statement of intent on the day all this flared up.

Unlike Richard Wright who has done a complete 'U Turn' from his previous stance when invited to join in with the Community Stadium ... and now thinks sharing is a good idea.

What does that tell you?

RW has always welcomed Wakefield coming to GH. Just not Cas to Wakefield.

Richard Wright has welcomed the inquiry, but its findings are not binding and looks to me like a fact finding mission just to see if the council can save cash and drop their involvment in either scheme.

Glasshoughton will be built without Wakey or the council , as will Newmarket, but they are hoping for such an uproar to the sharing crap that they can withdraw any funding/help and blame someone else .

Just remind me again where the money for Glasshoughton is coming from ... and why full planning permission has not been sought so that the work on the stadium can get started.

Our full plans are ready and waiting to go as soon as outline permission is granted.

and when will the outline be granted ???? is it after the public enquiry ???

Leeds city council will do all in their power to shaft Wakey as will the tree huggers, you will get Newmarket but will it be too late to save trinity ?
ditto for Cas, well the too late bit

ed off with it all now, you get yours and we'll get ours and no sharing whatsoever. good luck

If the Newmarket site was a viable option then no. But it is not, there are far too many obstacles to overcome. We need to stop kidding ourselves on. It won't happen certainly not in the forseeable future.

Therefore I would be prepared to go to Glasshoughton, otherwise we could be out. It is in a prime position has access roads all over the place and is easily accessible.

The only other option is to go to Barnsley until a day or date where we could get our own ground.

That hasn't answered the straightforward question I asked though has it?

Going off on one about what you hope will happen to Newmarket seems to suggest you don't have the answers.

To be honest, the only people that know where the money is coming from are those involved.

However, full planning permission hasn't been sought due to the fact of a) funding and b) because we haven't got full plans drawn up, of which, are being done now and should be available within a few weeks.

Going off on one ??????

jeeeze have a word with yourself, I only asked you questions knowing that you have no answers , just like the questions you asked about Glasshoughton.

the truth girl is that me and you and everyone else that cares about our clubs and the game in general are being s hit on from a great height and until we are told what is happening we are expected to keep arguing the virtues of our ground as opposed to yours.

I think the council will just pull the plug on any financial help for either site and this study just gets them involved out of the office for a few hours and a couple of free pub lunches while debating the matter thrown in.

no share, no merger, thats my opinion

Here you go again .... c020.gif

As you don't want to share with your 'challenged neighbours' bore off and leave the adult debating to Fully.

i think all these ground threads have now just about proved themselves to be totally pointless, neither set of fans wants to go to the others ground but at the end of the day the decision wont be made by the fans.

Both developments have their own specific problems Cas dont have the money to move forward and Wakey dont have the planning permission and just as an outsider looking in i think there is a massive question mark as to wheather the site will ever get planning permission, or to re-phrase that if it will get planning permission in time. So what is the answer to this, cas somehow struggle forward on their own and maybe somehow manage to build half a stadium (doubtful i think).

wakey if PP isnt approved go to Barnsley as paying tennants (would be very expensive i think and would be bound to hit the clubs revenues as gates are bound to fall) and how long could the club sustain this, just say as a figure 2 years untill planning went through (once again doubtful i think), or i could be wrong and planning could go through in september which would probbably make newmarket the best option for both clubs.

So i think at the end of the day Glasshouton is the best option for both sides if staying in super league is the goal of both clubs infact i think it is the only option to be honest. Because if all wakey need is the planning permission and that does get held up all they have to do is share with cas untill it gets passed then move on. I know this post probbably wont be too well recieved but i think this is the only way one or both teams are going to still be in super league after the next set of licences are issued, but on the other side of that as i said earlier if wakey truely believe planning will be granted in time for newmarket then they should stick with that and both clubs go it alone. Thats how i see the situation anyway and as i said the fans opinions wont count for much at the end of the day but a desision will need to be made by both clubs and the council very soon or i fear it will all be too late anyway.
