Don't worry about it. It's honest decent people like you we were and some still are fighting for. Local people I understand the desire to be positive and maybe the stadium bit will happen and at the end of the day that's something. Tbh I'm just sick of seeing us all let down by the very people we elect to help us.
We must never lose site of the wrong that has been done. For years we've been battling with other ignorant opposition fans by explaining the way the 106 works and how it will be totally funded from outside money.
I don't know how it will be funded now but it certainly won't be the way it was meant to be. So I think we must remain honest and admit that there are now moral issues where there shouldn't be..
I'm not suggesting we spit the dummy out but let's please not give Box any credit and let's remain vigilant at all times.
These snakes are not the kind of people I'm used to and I doubt you are - so trust only the Trust and where Trinity is concerned trust only the club.
Now have a nice xmas and enjoy the Boxing Day game

| Good news...let us hope it is not another false dawn. I doubt Michael would have backed down on the legal action if something substantive hasn't occurred here. He sounded like he really meant business on that and he has done nothing in his time at BV for me to think he is anything other than decent and honest. As for his statement, it is obvious that he is having to be careful what he says. In political situations you sometimes have to compromise and that statement read to me something like this.....
Council & Hussain: Ok Michael you're not happy with that deal on BV, what will you be happy with? (Unsaid...and we are bricking it if all the true facts of what we have been up to come out so we need to stop you taking this action) MC; This deal chaps. Them; ok then (maybe after a bit of haggling)...oh and could you put something out that makes us look better than that last statement Michael please? MC...ok then.....and we get carefully worded statement that does not exonerate the council and MH just in case we are being played for fools yet again but cleans their faces a bit...it's all been a 'misunderstanding'...as someone said, don't play MC at poker but good work Mr Carter!!!

| Putting aside all the community elements, the council should be supporting financially one of the best adverts for the city around the world. How else would the city's name be mentioned in despatches around the country? The chance to represent the city as somewhere new and dynamic and forward thinking.
If it wasn't for rugby, the only reason people would know of Wigan would be a pot of poverty referred to by George Orwell. If it wasn't for rugby, St Helens would be completely unknown to anyone outside of the northwest. Most people have heard of them though, and the image presented is modern and successful, of excellence.
If the council let the club fail over the ground issue, they see the city diminish to one no one has never heard mentioned.

He does support his local team - Cas.
Dig aside Cas are the ultimate example of a very small place made to appear a lot bigger by its RL team ditto Fev which is little more than a street. Why he can't see the value of them all but especially the one that carries the councils name I don't know. I suspect its a mixture of corruption and blatant snobbery. Box may represent us plebs but I doubt he thinks he's one of us.

| I completely agree with Vastman's comments....
I believe the area of Wakefield District near to the Newmarket development has over along period of time been under funded in terms of community facilities and for the council to gather any semblance of credibility then some sort of community facilities should be built near to the Newmarket development in accordance with the same time frame of the Belle Vue redevelopment. This would be in recognition of the council selling off the green belt lan at Newmarket and giving something back to the community rather than just a large monstrosity of an industrial building.

Even if they built the stadium/community facilities at newmarket, what the hell were they smoking when they signed the ok on that, I mean WTF, its not like its an area with existing development and thus ruined already, it was an oasis of green belt.
Yeah, we have to free up areas of GB for development, of course, but you'd have thought they'd keep the profile to a reasonable level so's not to entirely **** the landscape up for 30 miles in any direction, its an absolute ******* disgrace.
This one at 41 was bad enough but at least its an addition to existing commercial premises, though I still think they should have lessened its profile to fit with the existing development.
I see it most days, looming in the distance over farmland and still catch myself murmuring what the ****ing **** is that utter blight on humanity doing near my back garden.

| Baring in mind it should be only have been 14m high but the planning application to change it to 42 m high was a double blow, 1 the ridiculous height and 2 allowing it to be allocated outside of the enabling development. Still need real reason given by the council was this was allowed.

14 to 42 ??.....just a small increase then......ffsake
I think we know what the reason is
and, I highly doubt they would have built it at 14 had they not been assured that its height could be increased further down the line
wink and a nudge an all that

just think how many square feet/metres it would have been at it's original height on the original development and some question whether WMDC have acted properly in all of this.
An innocent bystander mat have thought that moving this out of the original scheme may have disaggregated the original plan's, something which wasn't supposed to happen.
