I would be amazed to see any other name than "East Leeds" on the U14 trophy this year. That side make West Hull look small icon_eek.gif

Firstly congratulations to west hull and east Leeds on reaching the 14s final.

Having seen both teams first hand I think it will be a close càll and tbh it could go either way but I don't like edging my bets so ill predict a east Leeds win has I feel they have more match winners in their ranks than wests. Wests are clearly a very well drilled team with some grunt down the middle but so do east Leeds and they also have some blistering pace in the outside backs.

Just my opinion it should be a great game.!!

Having watched East Leeds this morning I dunno . I thought Hunslet were hard done by on a couple of crucial decisions - 3 tries went begging for them in the 1st half too so it could of been very close .
It'll be tight final whatever I would imagine .

West Hull are the best team we have faced this season and i expect them to beat East Leeds as they don't just rely on size to win games. West's play with structure and intensity which i believe will be too much for the Leeds outfit - who rely totally on size and power with one three quarter with pace who just scoots every time he gets the ball.

As for Panthers it was a great learning curve and we will be a better side for it, I fully expect to go at least one step further next year.

What was the East Leeds score?

I'm sure you will have been made aware of the phrase " size isn't everything "

Will take a very good team to beat wests 14s we threw everything at them and they handle power/size & strength very well.

East leeds are a very good team, they have size speed and skill and have taken over Crigg All Blacks mantle as best team in YJARL with some very strong performances. Choking on the day is the only thing that will stop them from beating West Hull but they have experienced a cup final win at Fev already this year so can't see that happening icon_thumb.gif

Whoever wins the 14s one thing is for sure after 2 years of the same 2 clubs having a monopoly on this,2 new and worthy finalists have ememerged.

It should be a cracker , dont agree with poster who claimed east leeds use size alone to win games they spotted criggs weak points and beat team all over this year . The size helps in softening up others but its not the brains behind a good set up IMO.

Schools Yorkshire Cup Round2 Year 10 Result

Ossett Academy 56 V 0 Thornton Grammar School

A weakened Ossett took the field with no subs and 3 or 4 regulars missing but a very committed performance and some great attitude to defence was too much for the Bradford & Keighley schools Champions and No1 seeds.

The referee blew the final whistle with 15 minutes still remaining as there was no value in continuing the game at that point.

Seen as it's aimed at me I will respond accordingly. Whilst playing Crigg away in the Barla Cup, East Leeds didn't pass the ball through more than one pair of hands ALL GAME, and the majority of the ball went to both props and the LF, with the occasional scoot straight from DH by their very quick centre (no 3). If the fact that they don't pass the ball at all, and give at least 75% of the possession to there two props and their LF means they don't rely on size and power then I totally agree. Whilst attacking the Crigg line in the second half (approx 5yrds out), the majority of the team were stood on the 10mtr line exactly in a row, as if they were defending - because even their own players know the ball will not be passed and will simply be driven over by a big lad!

Mark my words, in 2 years time East Leeds will be mid-table at best.

I totally agree with that, but at the moment they are in front of everyone else by a good distance, I would also add that you are correct that most of the work about 90%) is done by 5 players and towards the end of the crigg game they were being over powered by crigg as fitness took it's toll, building muscles in the gym at 13/14 years old is not a good solution, muscle burns up more oxygen and this takes it's toll on stamina, however in a 25 min per half game, unless the other team make them work that little bit harder, east leeds will be a top team for the next 2 years

West Hull have a couple of key players struggling with injury, who are unlikely to make the game. So that will make it very difficult for Wests
