Top six 2005 - Trinity.: |

| Quote: alegend "Jools like you, most Wakefield fans do not want him near the team sick note is a good name for him ,Hopefully he will not be any way near the 17'"
Bit harsh tbh. Gaskell has put no more or less effort in than any other player imo to be bagged.
I do however think he flatters to deceive. A luxury player that would likely have a decent game with a team on the front foot who could carry him to a degree. Trinity are not a club that can afford this type of player. He’s a bit like Gigot for me. Will have a good game once in a blue moon but will for the most part be pretty anonymous. I see him as a player to cover in emergency and that’s all I saw the signing as anyway.

| Huddersfield have in SL era managed to totally abuse us when it comes to inter club transfers, we get Paul Riley and Gaskill when they are completely finished, we get the brilliant Brad Drew just when he is starting to fade. They get Murphy, Brough and Ferguson in their pomp, they to rub salt in our wounds we get Brough back when he is shot to pieces. They certainly see us coming. As far as tomorrows match they look miles too strong for us in all departments, the bookies give us a 6 point start which is not enough. They are playing with a desire and passion that we are lacking. They play a mistake free basic style of rugby earning the right to play once they have controlled field position, we don't- for some reason we believe we are the Harlem Globetrotters giving away cheap possession and field position either by making basic mistakes are giving penalties away. We go lateral rather than forward that makes us easy to defend. The Cas, Wigan and Hull KR match attitude from the players is going to take some turning around. We have the look of a group of players who feel sorry for themselves and its all not fair etc etc and it seems we just dont have the leaders with the strength of character to get us out of that mindset

| Flu has gone through the Huddersfield camp this week. At least half a dozen of their first choice players already missing whilst we are almost at full strength. They will also have an eye on the cup next week. Wakey win all say long and with something to spare. Let the good times roll.

you clearly haven't watched us play the last three games - anything BUT mistake free! In fact your description of Wakey has been us the last three games so I hope no one is expecting a classic!
I disagree with the above about a couple - Drewy - when he came back to us for his second stint he wasn't as quick I grant you - but still as smart and clever a player as ever so you got a very decent player there. The fans didn't want Reilly to leave and Reilly never wanted to play for you, or for anyone else, claret and gold ran through that lads veins and pulling on a Wakey shirt probably made him sick to his stomach. He could never play the same for anyone else.
I honestly hope you don't play Gaskell at fullback him combined with both miller and lino will make you dangerous attack wise. Gaskell plays best when he is able to have free reign to read what's on, take on the line and play a little off cuff around good organised set plays, and use his kicking game to good advantage. In the line he can be weak defensively as he can be more easily targeted by the forwards but less so at fullback as he isn't easily wrongfooted so for me FB is his best position.

| After seeing THAT attempt on French on Easter Monday I really don’t want to see Gaskell in a Trinity shirt again never mind at fullback again.

The Gaskill that you describe is not the player that we have seen, at least not yet.
Very poor with ball in hand and turnstile defence, some of his kicking has been excellent.
At FB, I'd take Jowitt all day long

Watson has said all the expected 17 from the squad announced trained today - sorry to disappoint.
You are indeed at almost full strength whilst we are missing our best player this season, our best prop and our best bench player. you keep giving yourselves no room for excuses. I must admit Im not convinced. It depends whether we decide to be the team that turned up against Catalan / Hull in the QF or the team that turned up against Leeds / Warrington.

Them training and them being 100% are two different thing entirely.
And there are no room for excuses, you are out of form, understrength and there’s illness in the camp. You also have a massive game next week. If we can’t beat you full strength on our own patch under those circumstances then we deserve to be in a relegation battle.

The bookies dont think we're going to win this one.
Trinity have 8 points start on the handicap.
Although Shudds may be out of form, they aren't quite as far out as we have been.
Hopefully, Fifita can be the difference

Not trying to points score nor did I know but that might explain the gap in info if others are covering what is a very important job.
Congrats to Verity by the way
I’m pretty sure the club will have got a few months notice of that, plenty of time to bring in some cover
That said, Verity is the commercial manager, she sells Sponsorship and hospitality packages.
She doesn’t do the marketing and they are totally separate things

I realise that but that wasn’t my point.
In a small outfit one person out then people get spread thin so if some one else gets knocked out with say COVID it really goes off line.
I’m not selling it as gospel I’m just suggesting this might be what happened.
I think we all agree there is no logical reason why the club wouldn’t want to publicise a game.

Well of course it depends what team turns up but that applies to both teams.
If the Trinity team that played Warrington turns up then even your best efforts with your best team this year wouldn’t get you a win. Only Saints have played better RL than that this season.
Problem is that team has gone into hiding.
