Would be wise to keep a quota spot and salary cap free in order to cover unexpected problems. Imagine in pre season if three of your four hookers broke down with long term injury or two of your half backs or four of your props etc . You need to leave some wriggle room to give you best chance of coping with the sort of issues we have encountered this season. It was interesting to hear Mills quote Wigan as having 12 middles in their squad , referring to the attritional nature of the position and needing plenty of quality to cover if you want to be consistent for the whole season
You are right ,we have had big issues this season with injures in the forwards and spine ,made it a lot harder to make top six.We just seem to be getting over it ,and then we start losing quality the backs ,
