You can't wait for him to get fit and then start the contract, what is he meant to live on? Ditto the other way around . He will probably be available around May time, so one year won't be enough.

Most likely he would have got a one-year deal but the injury saw to that, so the club has probably (a guess) spread that contract out over two years with a bit of padding to make it work. This way we will get more like a season and a half out of him at little more expense.

He's also got has van driving job to help out his finances

No just speak truth i support the club and dont think players should be jept in sentiment alone..think its fair yo say BT, TJ MJ and LG where no 1 choices for there teams last season they played between them 35 out of a possible 96.noe where a club on limited cash we need players who play.add to this we have LK and JC ciming back from major injuries.but cos im a pesamistc just to please you ill jeep me gob shut.

I'm really pleased that Kershaw is staying.
Certainly one of our most exciting players with ball in hand.

If he can improve again next season, we will have a fine player on our books !

He's a perfect foil to TJ. TJ is a classic winger and although he can create wonderful tries for himself his real value is as a deadly finisher who rarely bombs a chance.

Kershaw is the opposite, he's not a natural predator and doesn't always score the sitters and I don't think he ever will, though he's still got a decent success rate. But if you want a dynamic all-action player who sucks the energy out of the opposition then Kershaw is it, his work rate and resilience are astonishing.

TJ is not at risk from Kershaw because they are so different but I don't think it's a walk-in for Lineham, he's the one whose place Kershaw will be chasing IMHO.

The guy I'm hoping will be making TJ nervous in the next year or so is young Murphy, who is a TJ clone in some ways.

As for speaking up about kersh signing for Newcastle, I will. I was one that did state he was on his way, which he most definitely was, until trinity came in with a revised offer, probably the threat of lapsed season tickets and cancellation of 1873 from fans across social media platforms spurred on the financial decision to try keep him, but I'm sure Jose knows this, I'm pretty sure he has very good contacts at the club
